Injuries

Is it just me, or does it seem like guys all over the league are dropping like flies in the preseason? CHI lost 3 guys in one game last night. This doesn't look to be a good year for avoiding injuries for any team.

Re: Injuries

It's only the ones on my fantasy team. Nothing unusual. Nine more to go though.

Re: Injuries

It really does seem like the preseason has been tough for injuries.

Smile Re: Injuries

A lot of these are ankle injuries.

I wonder if this has anything to do with it.

Quote:

David Stern Orders All NBA Players To Wear Same Size Sneakers

NEW YORK--In a further effort to establish uniformity in players’ on-court appearance, NBA Commissioner David Stern instituted a new rule today forcing all players to wear the same size shoes. The rule goes into effect immediately, and players have one week to bring themselves into compliance.
I would think that the sneakers might have something to do with the huge amount of ankle injuries.

Does anyone know if NBA players are required to wear high-top sneakers to help prevent ankle injures?

Re: Injuries

That is why I take most preseason predictions with a grain of salt and usually try to avoid commenting on who will finish first , second , etc....With only 15 players on a basketball team if anyone or two key players go down with an injury for an extended time, the team will struggle to be competitive. However predictions are based on perceived team chemistry, star power, coaching and last season's accomplshments. Injuries will happen but it is never factored in until it happens. The positive is that a scrub can become a star or realize his potential when that key player goes down.

I was in two PF fantasy leagues last year and it seemed most of us were hit hard with injuries midseason and had to scrape the bottom of the free agent pool to make up for the stats that our injured key guys could not get us.

Re: Injuries

It does seem like lots of injuries in the preseason. Players are not in top-notch condition yet, their bodies not used to all the rigours and that's why they are more succeptible to the injuries. Also, as we all know, starters don't put much stock into the preseason and play too relaxed, which in terms contributes to the injury possibility.

Re: Injuries

I think we as Pistons fans never noticed it that much in prior preseasons, because we have always started the seasons off injury free and probably ignored the fact that other teams were getting hit with the injury bug during preseason.

But with AJ, Rip, Nazr and now Stuckey getting hit by the injury bug before we can even get out of the game, it is hitting us at home making us more aware of it.

Re: Injuries

We need to modify the rules to avoid injury. Put the rim at 12 feet and allow elbow and knee pads............

Are elbow and knee pads illegal now or is it just that no one wants to look like Tom McMillan?

Re: Injuries

These injuries are not only happening to NBA players, but NBA fans, too. I hurt my lower back after falling off the toilet while laughing my azz off at my Far Side book.
