Shaquille O'Neal flies to Los Angeles for treatment of hip
January 7, 2008
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Miami Heat center Shaquille O'Neal flew Monday to Los Angeles to seek medical treatment for a hip injury that has sidelined him the past five games.

O'Neal's departure two games into a five-game trip is the latest setback for an injury-plagued team that has the worst record in the Eastern Conference at 8-26 and has lost seven games in a row. O'Neal had said Sunday he had hoped to return to the lineup Tuesday at Minnesota.

He bruised his left hip Dec. 22 when he dived for a loose ball and slid into the scorer's table during the a win over Utah. He aggravated the injury in a Dec. 26 loss at Philadelphia and hasn't played since.

The hip injury and a sore left knee have contributed to the least productive season of O'Neal's 16-year career. He is averaging 14 points and 7.8 rebounds in 29 games.

I have a few words..if Shaq gets healed in the next two weeks, look for some idiot coaches to vote him into the All Star game as DHowards back-up--- after all I think he was second in voting for that position

If he and Wade continue to battle injuries throughout the season, guess what team will have the inside track and higher % of balls for the number 1 draft pick in June

After the game Sunday, veterans Antonio Daniels, DeShawn Stevenson and Antawn Jamison said they are in the process of re-arranging the Washington Wizards locker room. The idea is to separate Andray Blatche and rookies Nick Young and Dominic McGuire to create a more serious pregame environment according to the Washington Post.

Said Stevenson: "We've got too much joking and playing around going on in here before games."

Jamison said his main goal is to make the young players understand how valuable their contributions will be as the season plays out.

Blatche is the same guy that drew a flagrant #1 for his hit to Hayes in our last game with the Wiz.

Must be pretty bad if they have to resort to these tactics at Washington.

How about them Warriors dropping 130 points (albeit in overtime) on Spurs? Spurs finally get their Big 3 heathly more or less but Warriors just hit their shots. Baron Davis with a big game.

Lakers at Hornets Wednesday

It seems to me that the Hornets should win this pretty easy by doubles figures.

Lakers do not match up that well against the Hornets and it is the second game of back to back on the road.

If posters here think Stuckey can't play defense they should have seen Conley give up 26 points tonight to Derek Fisher (3 off of his career high) on 10 of 11 from the field including 5 of 5 on threes.

On offense Conley is not anywhere near what Williams and Paul were, in their rookie years.

Re: 2007-08 general league thread (non-Pistons)

Besides being a fairly interesting article (Expert: Why the bias against big-man coaches? - NBA - MSNBC.com), it mentions that Jeff Ruland (half of the Ruland/Mahorn Bullets tandem) was coaching in the D-League.

So I wondered who else was down there. Here's a list of D-League coaches and assistants I at least still recognize...

- Jeff Ruland
- Quin Snyder
- Sean Rooks
- Joe Wolf
- Jaren Jackson
- Chucky Brown
- Joey Meyer
