Discuss: NBA mulls five-team expansion to Europe at Detroit Pistons Fan Community - PistonsForum.com

I wonder when/if this will happen. Just what we need, more teams and more travel. I hate this idea. ...

I don't think that many American fans like the idea.

The American fan gains nothing. In fact we lose a whole bunch of live games each year and TV games will be at weird times.

This is a power think for Stern and his minions. I would assume that he has sold this idea to the international media, because without their support the idea will not happen.

Stern his minions and the media control the ball and the bucks.

This idea is a non-starter. The league is blowing smoke...

I'd rather see a Mex or PR team.

This would be met with all the enthusiasm the synthetic basketball enjoyed. Stern should stop trying to change the game.

It's all about the $$$. The FA Premier League (soccer) just proposed to have some games played all over the world in 2 years time. A lot of coaches and critics did not like the idea. They too think that the league is blowing smoke as well. Even FIFA do not agree to such proposal.

And at he same time every soccerfan agrees that scedule in various "first level" leagues is already too tight.

I forgot about that. That was a horrible idea. I'm glad that got fixed though. Stern is trying to mess with everything. This is also another horrible idea. I vote no!

Re: NBA mulls five-team expansion to Europe

Such a bad idea. I don't know how they are going to pull off the travel and the thought of a 5 team expansion draft is horrific.

The influx of foreign players has helped the NBA. There is no doubt that we have been getting the better deal lately so perhaps its best to leave things alone.

Yes it would increase revenue oversees but it would also decrease interest here. Stern in my opinion focuses too much on drawing in new fans and too little on maintaining the ones he has.
