Thomas

Seattle will receive guard Brent Barry, center Francisco Elson and a 2009 first-round draft pick.
ESPN - Spurs send Barry, Elson and pick to Sonics for Thomas - NBA

Another case of overpaying for an aging player? Is this a good trade or bad trade for the Spurs? Your thoughts?

Re: Spurs trade for Kurt Thomas

Thomas is better than Oberto and Elson combined. Maybe Horry too. Barry's been injured and although he's one of the best shooters ever to play the game, Finley isn't too far behind as is a lot better defensively.

It isn't necessarily the trade that'll put them over the top, but he'll probably give them more than a 25+ draft pick would a few years from now when Timmy's headed toward retirement.

exept Gasol trade, rest of west contenders have in a long-term given away more than received. Such gambling isn't dumars style.

bla i heart KT. We couldn't have put together something better like tons of expirings?

Ok let me rephrase that; like some expirings + Hayes

If I remember correctly, the Sonics wanted a first-rounder too. Spurs gave up their 09 first rounder. I don't think Joe is willing to part with a first (I could be wrong), but we do have a bunch of 2nd's. Seattle's GM used to be with SA too, so they could've had the inside track from the get. Also, Elson is a stiff, but Brezec is even more of a stiff. And I doubt they'd have wanted to get Murray back.

Kurt Thomas hasn't played much for Seattle. Kurt is like Dale Davis, without the tazer.

I really wish that we would trade Bresec and Murray for 1 player so that we could also pick up Davis. You're exactly right, he is as tough as Thomas.

Double-D's been missing jumpshots long before the taser, my friend.

If Joe can't pull the trigger on a deal, I think PJ Brown is sitting at home. He is 38 years old just like 38 year old Dale Davis. Although we beat the Bulls last year in that 2nd round, PJ seem more active and agile vs us then Dale Davis did with us. Can't we just give Bresec to somebody for a drat pick in 2012 to create space......
