More crime association problems for the Pacers

It just never ends for these guys:

Quote:
Five incidents involving players since September have further eroded their public image, although only one resulted in a player being charged with a crime. The latest occurred Wednesday, when Gary Bohanon, who was wanted in connection with a Tennessee murder case, was arrested after leaving the home of Pacers forward Shawne Williams.
Somewhat of an understatement here from Bird, one would hope:

Quote:
"We've got to get all the information, but we've got to be very clear on this: We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," Bird said.
You think?

Is that a new rule?

Glad Joe isn't so uptight.

I feel sorry for Bird. He obviously doesn't know what to say or do about his players. Very sad.

It is a matter of owners and GM's taking a stand. Playing basketball in the NBA is a prevliage not a right. Players with run ins with the law or serious character issues should not be signed or retained on contract after a second infraction.

I'm sure Bohanon spilled his guts to Shawn. Maybe he hadn't seen the guy in years.
I just hope these Pacers don't corrupt our precious exPiston Ronny Murray. Maybe Ronny can teach them to behave.

It seems like a hard line to draw...no hanging around with murderers. I think Bird is doing the right thing by taking a tough stance. Oh..the players will probably complain... but I hope he sticks to his guns.
