One of the most popular features at Pistonsforum.com is the live game chat.

Last year's playoffs featured 30+ member chats at times putting some stress on our web site hosting.

To this end, we upgraded our server hosting at great expense during the offseason to compensate for the anticipated volume this year.

However it still may not be enough.

While limiting a site feature is not desireable or popular, it's my goal to accommodate the folks who have supported the forum first.

To this end, live game chat during the playoffs will be restricted to Members who have reached "Member+" status. At this time, there are 90+ members who qualify for playoff chat status.

Member+ forumites are people who have 80 posts or more and have been members for 2 months or longer. Upgrading from Member to Member+ is done automatically by the forum, and it may take 24 hours to see the change take effect once those milestones are reached.

In some cases, forumites have been upgraded based upon their participation in last season's playoff bracket pool competition.

If you would like to participate or lurk in the playoff chat, please start contributing. Posts made merely to raise post counts will be disallowed. It is not our desire to fill the board with nonsense, but to encourage participation and maintain a high level of service for chatters.

You can check your postcount, registration date and membership status by consulting the membership list here.

Please do not PM me asking for an exception. The rule will be applied fairly and evenly across the entire board.

Hey ros, i totally agree on what you are doing as far as putting some restrictions as far as who is eligible to chat. I'm not going to lie I really want to chat during the playoffs but I will not abuse this opportunity by just making trivial posts. I will do my best to maintain the integrity of the site. Thanx

Thanks but the login system doesn't work on a case by case basis.

If all of the Member+ folks showed up, the chat would crash. We might be able to handle 40 people. Definitely not 100+. Besides, it would be unreadable.
