Michigan-Michigan State Mens basketball 2009-2010

Figure if we got to follow some winning BB in SE Michigan we got follow the Wolverines, Spartans, Eagles and Titans??

the 15th rank Michigan Wolverines had no answer for unranked and undefeated Marquette today as the Warriors cut through the lane for countless hoops in the first half and then beat from the outside in the second half. The tallest player on the Warriors squad was a 6'6 gut by the name of Butler.

Michigan cut a double digit halftime lead down to one point with a 10-0 run midway through the second half only the see the warriors put together a 12-0 run to thwart Michigan comeback attempt.

The Wolverines were 3 for 20 from the outside 3 pt arc and was in the bonus for the last 10 minutes of the game, but continued to toss up the three ball in the last 7 mins of the game instead of pounding it down to Harris or Sims

Michigan is now 3-1.

Nice thread idea, Dre.

I've got a feeling both teams (MSU and Wolverines) are rated higher than they should be...or will be...in a couple of weeks.

Anyhow, should be exciting seasons for both MSU and their little brothers in the basketball world.

Re: Michigan-Michigan State Mens basketball 2009-2010

Well just like their little brothers down the road, the second ranked Spartans ran into an unranked, undefeated Florida team and suffered the same result, an upset loss..

Florida defeated Michigan State 77-74 yesterday to remain undefeated at 5-0 and the Spartans dropped to 4-1 and will certainly drop a spot or two in the top 10.

Although we have had a lot to be thankful for this holiday weekend there was nothing to cheer about with the play of the local SE Michigan collegiate and professional teams.

In addition to the upset losses by the Spartans and Wolverines, the Lions loss in their annual turkey day debacle, the Red wings were shut out in two straight games at the Joe on Wednesday and Friday and the Pistons duplicated the effort by losing their two home games on Wednesday and Friday.

Is there hope that some local team will win before the weekend is over???

Spartans play UMASS today....lets hope they bounce back with a W.

Re: Michigan-Michigan State Mens basketball 2009-2010

Michigan State Spartan BB team rebounds from yesterdays loss with a convincing 106-68 victory over the 2-4 UMass Minutemen. Coach izzo won his 341st game for MSU surpassing Jud Heathcote to become the all time leader in coaching victories at Michigan State. The Spartans are now 5-1

Detroit Mercy also played today and lost 68-66 in OT to Depaul.

Red wings stop a 2 game slide as Todd Bertuzzi scores the winning goal in a shoot out as the Wings come back from a 2-1 deficit to tie the game at 3 with only 57 seconds left in the game and take it to OT and then to the Shootout......maybe the Pistons will get off the snide and upset the Hawks tomorrow

The Michigan Wolverines drop another game in Florida, this time they are upset by Alabama 68-66 and will certainly drop out of the top 25 with two disappointing losses at this Old Spice Holiday tournament.

Once again the Wolverines relied on their 3 point game and it failed them again as they were 6 -25 from beyond the arc. No need for that when you have DeShawn Sims downlow that you can feed and Manny Harris who can drive to the hoop and get as many foul calls as Dwade...

Wolves now 3-2 and will have to earned their way back into the top 20 with some wins in the Big 10 conference games come January.

As expected Michigan which had been ranked 15th last week fell out of the top 25 losing to Marquette and Alabama. The Wolverines are now 3-2.

Michigan State which loss to Florida on Friday and rebounded to blast UMass on Saturday fell from second to ninth in the AP poll. They are 5-2

In other local collegiate basketball news, Eastern Michigan won it's third straight game tonight beating Canisius 75-58 and are now 5-2.

Thanks Scoe, my column may get a few followers here as the seasons goes on as this is one collegiate season where we may have to look at the draft much more closely to avoid any Darko Debacles....that hype ruined the last four years of Piston basketball ~~~championship wise....

Michigan State is actually 5-1 with a rematch at #10 North Carolina at 9pm EST tomorrow night. That one should be interesting.
