I think we have to look at the real value of Oden.

How many other guys do you know that can miss foul shots with either hand on a regular basis?

Re: Oden

Oden was THE TRUTH in the title game, but Florida played great, and Oden's teammates were throwing up way too many...

Re: Oden

3 for 22 from three point land? You can't win a college game like that.

Every shot Oden blocked seemed to picked up by Florida and converted into a 3-pointer.

I don't think there is much more that GO can learn in college, except to not trust his teammates and screw trying to stay out of foul trouble.

Also, realize that he is the perfect example of a player who tries hard but doesn't show his emotion. Stoic.

Re: Oden

Here is just a random stat about the game last night.

If you switch the 3-point shooting percentages around (give OSU .555 and Florida .174), then OSU would have won by a score of 101 to 63.

So, in essence, it was just a big 3-point contest.

Florida's eFG on 3's was .833. Good luck trying to keep up with that from inside the arc.

That's why I like pro ball better. There's more of an in-between game.

Also, notice how tentative Oden had to play on defense to make sure that he didn't get into foul trouble. He allowed a bunch of uncontested shots just so he could stay in the game. Even though he was probably playing smart, that's not a lot of fun to watch.

I don't know if I agree with that. He had 4 blocks, and at least a couple of those were shots that he absolutely inhaled. I thought the refs did a good job of not calling needless touch fouls on his interior D.

When they came into him, he would block the shots, but he was just letting them shoot those free throw line jumpers. You didn't notice the restraint he was exhibiting on D? Again, I think he was playing smart given the circumstances, but I just don't feel like he's had the chance to show how good a defender he will be in the pros.
