Shock go for three titles!

After getting blown out by the Liberty in game 1 and almost blowing a lead in the game 2, the Shock trail most of game 3 before pulling ahead by five in the last 2.5 minutes on a 3 ball by Katie Smith (who had missed her previous 6 shots). Then they blow a five point lead an allow the NY to tie the game and send it in to OT.

After falling behing by five in OT they go in a 7-0 run and then hold on to win by 1.

katie Smith almost shot them out of the game, but did hit a couple of 3 balls in crunch time and OT. Nolan led the comeback in the 4th. Cheryl Ford who missed the last 10 games of the season and was thought to be out for the season came back to help them win by being the only Shock player to show up in the first half. Can this be the first BB team in Mihicgan to repeat since the Bad boyz in 1990???

With all this talent on the team, they must have called on Flip Laimbeer to coach this series.............

Wish I could have watched that game. I only saw game 1 and it wasn't looking good for them.

I have to say though, that the level of play in the WNBA playoffs is really great so far. They are athletic enough that it almost seems like watching a good NCAA men's game. And there really are some spectacular plays.

Hey, at least Laimbeer understands the word "toughness." Flip thinks "toughness" means when his steak is difficult to cut.

That being said, Indiana is gonna be tough in Round 2.

Re: Shock Survive first round upset

WNBA basketball is much more physical than NBA basketball. Outrageously and splendidly so.

Re: Shock Survive first round upset

This has Piston flavor all over it.

First the Shock finish with the best record in the league
Then Flip Laimbeer rests the starters in the last five games after they clinch
Then they come out rusty, cocky and overconfident in game 1 and have to hold on to win games 2 and 3.

We can only speculate that in round two if Tamika (La bron) catchings leads the Indiana (Cavs) Fever to an upset of the defending champs.

Hopefully Katie Smith gets under control and Cheryl Ford can keep her knee healthy for another chance to contend in the finals.

Re: Shock Survive first round upset

Is it possible for me to be a WNBA groupie that hangs outside the lockeroom, but it'd probably be my luck that I end up in a compromising position with one of the goon looking ladies as oppossed to Swin Cash.
