Its not once every 4 years there is something going on every summer. Take Wade for example. After the Finals he gets a month off, plays for team USA this summer and then only gets a few weeks rest until he reports back to NBA training camp. This is one of the factors I am hoping will slow Miami down next season.

I had an idea a few years ago when players were refusing to go. I think it mainly started when Payton blamed a season plagued season on his international commitment.

Why not select your team USA from players who did not make the playoffs? Their season ends in April. More than enough talent to choose from and you can have an extra month to practice the team.

Re: Olympics

I was dissapointed when all our guys refused to go to Team USA, but it can help us now. Don't want these guys playing major minutes even when they're not playing in the season.

Re: Olympics

The Olympics happens once every 4 years, which is similar to the World Cup which is currently held in Germany. Soccer stars make millions too but do they have any problem representing the country? The answer is a big NO NO.

Soccer players too have to go through qualifying rounds and in addition, friendly games too.

Yes, I think the current NBA players are getting too big headed. They should go to the Olympics and learn to expand their game knowledge there. Play against zone defenses and learn how to play without 'palming' the ball which NBA players do get away with most of the time. Notice that NBA players 'travels' a lot, especially moving the pivot foot (Shaq, Zo, and Walker).

What happen to PATRIOTISM?

I don't know about that. They lost to the Heat.

Yes, i do agree after such a long and hectic NBA season, players kinda worn out and need a break to spend time with the family but for crying out loud, the Olympics is held once every 4 years. At the '92 Olympics, players from the original Dream Team do not have such problems. Each and everyone of them were so excited to represent Team USA. If i'm not wrong, nobody actually rejected the invitation at that time. Even our own Zeke, was so disappointed that he was not invited to play. If players ever complained about the fatigue factor, take a long look at Bulls MJ and Pippen from the Dream Team. They have just completed their back to back NBA championship that year. And guess what? After the Olympics, Bulls 3 peat the following year. What's wrong with the attitude of NBA players nowadays?
The US is not the only country that suffers the absense of some of their stars.
For example, in this World Championship Bodiroga, Jaric, Stojakovic, Krstic and Radmanovic don't play for Serbia, Turkoglu, Okur and Turckan don't play for Turkey, Ilgauskas and Jasikevicius don't play for Lithuania, Nené and Araujo don't play for Brazil, and I could go on...

A big part of Spain and Argentina being the best outside the US right now, is the commitment of their players. International game is sometimes more about having players with will to play than having the best talent.
