The Pistons have expressed concern about sending the kids down, with the thinking that they are in a more controlled environment with the home club.

The Pistons draft pick from a couple years ago, Andreas Glyniadakis is unsigned, but caught on with a D-League team and has been playing well.

Stats

Last week in a WDFN interview with Scott Perry (member of the scouting staff that endorsed Tayshaun Prince) by Matt Dery, Scott said that he would be heading down to the affiliate club (Fayetville Patriots) to assess the living conditions and potential to send players down.

We've got 3 roster spots of 15 tied up with "rookies" (AJ, AA and JMax). Sending a signed player down doesn't free roster room, but may allow them more PT particularly on a bad team desperate for some talent. The downside is that they are not going to be "NBA ready" and Flip's offense seems to be quite sophisticated with a steep learning curve.

But I think it unlikely that AJ will see much playing time this season anyway, and could be recalled if necessary or a playing time situation materialized.

Quote:
(Aundray) Blatche is the ninth NBA player to be assigned to a D-League affiliate this season and joins Wizard’s teammate Peter John Ramos on the Roanoke roster. Donta Smith of Atlanta and Toronto’s Pape Sow are both on assignment to the Arkansas RimRockers. The Milwaukee Bucks have assigned Ersan Ilyasova and the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets designated Sean Banks to Tulsa. The Minnesota Timberwolves have designated center Dwayne Jones and guard Bracey Wright to the Florida Flame. The Phoenix Suns assigned Dijon Thompson to Albuquerque and recalled him after three games with the Thunderbirds.

Caught one of Glynnie's games on NBATV a couple weeks ago... he went off for 27 points... showed nice instincts (save the Darko jokes)... course it just against D-League comp, but he didn't look like a stiff out there. He's got a nice hook and decent range... the kid might just make it in the bigs as a bench player.

To get back to Hotsauce's concerns... We may have to wait for further expansion in the the D-League before Joe feels comfortable... a situation where the home club can dictate strategies and personel.

We may have up to 15 teams in the D-League next year... unfortunately the Pistons won't have a dedicated minor league team for at least two years (when our rooks are no longer eligible to be sent down).... the true value is for the future
