December 2006 Pistons Articles

[Twin Cities Press]
St. Paul Pioneer Press | 12/01/2006 | U job is Flip's if he wants it
The question is whether Saunders would be willing to walk away from $12.5 million he is still owed by the Pistons for this season and the following two years. Or whether the Pistons would be willing to settle if Saunders expressed a desire to leave. A little birdie says he has an understanding with the Pistons that he could leave for the Gophers job.

Wow, that is ground breaking. Wow. A coach could leave Detroit without being fired or driven to madness.

Re: December 2006 Pistons Articles

Honestly, there are only two coaches off the top of my head who left the Pistons on their own terms. Both had had enough though.

Chuck Daly and Butch Van Breda Kolff.

Re: December 2006 Pistons Articles

considering I haven't been in to Flip, and it's my birthday today, this feels like some cosmic birthday present that I may or may not get to keep.

cruel world or blessed gift from the basketball gods?

Re: December 2006 Pistons Articles

I'll be dying to hear the PR coming out of the Palace.

Is it too soon to wish for Chuck Daly and Bill Laimbeer as coaches. Chuck plays the Tex Winter role and Bill does the heavy lifting.

Since it is my b-day and all. A man can dream, right?

Re: December 2006 Pistons Articles

I've resigned myself to a season of Flipnastic offensive sets and zone defense, so whatever happens will be gravy.
