Re: MARCH MADNESS BRACKETS... in progress

First round is over. Strange that I'd be all alone in fourth place in our pool, if only I hadn't...picked against my own favorite team.

Kind of a dull first round, overall--the only double digit seeds still alive are Winthrop and VCU. Both of whom I have in the Sweet 16! And if UNLV makes the Elite Eight, watch out...otherwise, try not to drown in the blood that'll be dripping from my bracket.

UNLV is TOAST! Wisconsin came out with big jitters in the 1st half (19 points?), but then found their sync in the 2nd (57 points). I hope that 1st half scared the crap outta the Badgers and put them on a roll...looks that way so far.

Let the blood-bath begin...

SHAME on you for picking against Sparty in that game! Izzo's too good a coach to let his players forget George Mason.

UNC will be another story...a double digit loss...or the biggest upset of the tourney. Either way...I WIN!

Re: MARCH MADNESS BRACKETS... in progress

Finshed the first found with 24 winners which is better than I did last year. Three of my losses were by 2 points each, VA Tech over the Illini, VCU over the Duke, and Zavier over BYU. Five of the losses were the result of me trying to go against the odds and pick the lower seeds in hopes of getting extra pts that no one else would have chosen.

Oh well fun first round and the good thing is that all of my brackets where the team lost, I already had them losing the second round so it didn't upset my sweet sixteen choices.

A couple of close games for Oregon and Wisconsin, which means that they may have been looking ahead to their potential sweet sixteen matchup next week. I think both teams were down 10-0 out of the block.

Now be honest...for those that did pick Winthrop...did you do so because you thot they would win?...or because you can't stand Notre Dame? That same question applies to those picking VCU over Duke.

Happy St. Patty's Day! (I'm sure many domers are crying in their Guinness at this very moment! )

Happy St. Patty's Day!
Hating Notre Dame is almost always the better thing to do.

Re: MARCH MADNESS BRACKETS... Join Now!

I hate ND football, but I don't care much about their hoops team. Winthrop had a great record and some tough losses against good teams, so they were a hot upset pick. I have them in the Sweet 16.

As for Duke-VCU, my hatred of Doooook knows no bounds, AND they kinda sucked and were overrated as a 6th seed, AND VCU was getting props from some people as a possible sleeper, so...perfect storm. Now they also need to get into the Sweet 16.

I always try to pick a decent number of upsets in the first round, which didn't materialize this year, but those two picks (Winthrop and VCU) were ones that I actually felt pretty good about when I picked them. Then again, I also felt pretty good about picking Long Beach St., but they lost by 35.
