| Wings Bring Back Greg Johnson The wings have brought back Greg Johnson, who played with them from 1993-1997. They are expecting he'll center the 4th line. Here's the rest of the story. I guess the bottom line is he provides some veteran depth without hurting the bottom line much ($500,000). I just hope the young guys (Flippula, Hudler, Kopecky) can play their way into playing time, and the organization doesn't choose to stick with veteran players, just for the sake of them being veterans. | Re: Wings Bring Back Greg Johnson Former Wing signed with Blues: Defenseman Jamie Rivers, who played for St. Louis from 1995-99, signed a free-agent deal with the Blues on Friday. The 31-year-old Rivers played for the Red Wings and Coyotes last season, appearing in 33 games with six assists and 38 penalty minutes. |

Especially with the rediculous size of the arbitration awards this summer. The NHL "middle class" is shrinking to the point of extinction, like the role of the enforcer. |
