RSS mike7psu: The Backwards Atlantic Division

As expected there is a Pennsylvania team atop the Atlantic Division and one at the very bottom of the division. But to everyones surprise the Flyers are the bottom dweller and the Penguins are riding high. That is just the start of the upside down Atlantic Division.

RSS Red Wings down Stars for Second-Straight Win

The Detroit Red Wings' penalty killers came to life at just the right time Friday night, holding off a four-minute Dallas Stars' power play in the third period to help claim a 4-3 win.

After allowing three power play goals to Dallas, the Red Wings finally clamped down defensively after rookie Tomas Kopecky went off for a double-minor after high-sticking Jaroslav Modry at 2:58 of the final frame. They kept up the effort for the rest of the game and kept the Stars off the board, holding onto their one-goal lead.

RSS Red Wings Extend Streak to Four Games

The Detroit Red Wings held off a late comeback by the Calgary Flames to pick up their fourth-straight win Wednesday night. Like the other three in the run, it was a one-goal win.

Brett Lebda's third period goal held up as the game-winner. With 8:36 remaining in the period, Lebda carried the puck down the right wing before cutting in front of defender Andrei Zyuzin and using him as a screen, putting a shot over the glove of Calgary goalie Miikka Kiprusoff to give Detroit a 3-1 lead.

Good to see the Wings getting things in order. Word has it Blackhacks are much improved.
The two teams can't exist as contenders, too bloody. One must relent.

I agree. Detroit must continue to dominate Chicago in hockey. Football is outta the question; baseball is iffy and so is basketball. The rivalry is back between the two cities with Ben going over there.
