RSS Red Wings Drop Shootout to Blues

Former Red Wings goaltender Manny Legace stopped 41 shots - plus two more shootout chances - Friday night, leading the St. Louis Blues to a 3-2 win over Detroit.

Legace, making his first start in Detroit since leaving the Red Wings, was aided by 22 blocked shots by his new teammates.

RSS Misconduct: It Was Everyone, or Was It No One?

I didn't post a news update or a message here in my blog after Detroit's 6-2 loss in Nashville a couple days ago. I believe that's the first time this season that, aside from the score, DetroitHockey.Net went without mention of the outcome of the game.

RSS Shorthanded Goals Help Red Wings Snap Skid

The Detroit Red Wings scored two shorthanded goals in the third period Monday night, lifting then to a 2-1 win over the Dallas Stars and ending their losing streak at five games.

Kris Draper scored the first of Detroit's tallies 3:03 into the third period, banging home the puck when a long shot by Mathieu Schneider bounced off the back boards and came to him at the side of the net.

RSS Red Wings Blank Wild for Second Consecutive Win

The Detroit Red Wings scored twice in a 37-second span of the second period Friday night and goaltender Dominik Hasek did not allow a goal as they skated to a 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild.

It was Detroit's second win in a row after ending a five-game losing streak on Monday night against the Dallas Stars.

RSS Late Goals Lift Sharks over Red Wings

The San Jose Sharks scored twice in the final 3:31 Saturday night to earn a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings. The game-winning goal came with just 5.9 seconds remaining.

After a turnover by Dan Cleary at the Red Wings' blue line, Milan Michalek sent a pass to Joe Pavelski, who cut in from the left side, and beat Detroit goalie Joey MacDonald.

RSS Red Wings Down Blues on Brett Hull Night

On the night that the St. Louis Blues retired the number of former captain Brett Hull, the Detroit Red Wings spoiled the show, jumping out to an early lead and picking up a 5-1 victory in the first game of a home-and-home series.

After a long ceremony to honor the former Blue and Red Wing, the teams took to the ice with Detroit clearly dominating.

RSS Red Wings Power Past Maple Leafs

The Detroit Red Wings' power play fired on all cylanders Saturday night, accounting for every goal in a 5-1 victory over the Original Six rival Toronto Maple Leafs.

Midway through the first period the Red Wings got on the board as Mikael Samuelsson tapped home a cross-crease feed. Scored at 9:53, the goal came just seconds after the end of a 5-on-3, which Chad Kilger still in the box but before Alex Steen could get back into the play.

RSS Red Wings' Comeback Falls Short Against Senators

After allowing the Ottawa Senators to score three goals in the second period Tuesday night, the Detroit Red Wings scored twice but were unable to get the third goal to even the score, picking up a 3-2 loss.

Forty-three saves by Ottawa netminder Ray Emery kept the Red Wings even getting a point out of a game which they controlled most of.

RSS Red Wings Edge Blackhawks to Start Road Trip

The Detroit Red Wings kicked off a three game road trip with a 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks Thursday night. The loss was Chicago's first in regulation under new head coach Denis Savard.

The Red Wings weathered constant pressure from the Blackhawks, a team invigorated by the recent return of goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin and forward Martin Havlat from injury. Detroit netminder Dominik Hasek made 29 saves on 31 shots in one of his more impressive outings of the season.
