 Wings Blank Pens for First Win of Season The Detroit Red Wings picked up their first win of the 2006-07 season Saturday night, shutting out the Pittsburgh Penguins for a 2-0 victory. The Red Wings allowed only 13 shots on Dominink Hasek's net, including only one Pittsburgh shot in the second period. The shutout is his eighth as a Red Wing and the 69th of his career. | Yzerman Named Red Wings VP Former Detroit Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman was named vice president of the team on Monday, just fewer than three months after retiring as a player. "After retiring as the longest serving captain in NHL history and the on-ice leader of our franchise for 23 years, it is only fitting that he join our management team," Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch said in a statement. | Red Wings Offense Arrives in 9-2 Win over Phoenix The Detroit Red Wings scored a total of only three goals in their first two games of the season but added to that in dramatic fashion in the third, scoring nine times on the Phoenix Coyotes en route to their second-straight win. | Misconduct: Where the Buffaslug Roams I was surprised several times during the Red Wings game on Friday against the Buffalo Sabres. From the aesthetic side, it was my first live look at the Sabres' new "buffaslug" logo and jerseys. I still like the jerseys but that logo is an atrocity. Link To Original Article |

| Red Wings Kick Off Road Trip with Win The Detroit Red Wings started their four-game western road trip with a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings Monday night. The win extended their unbeaten streak against the Kings to 12 games. Detroit netminder Chris Osgood, making his first appearance of the season, made 22 saves on 23 shots to earn the victory. | Power Plays Lead Ducks over Red Wings The Anaheim Ducks scored three times on ten power play chances en route to a 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings Wednesday night. The three power play goals all came in the second period. After an apparent goal by Teemu Selanne was called back for the net being off its moorings, Ryan Getzlaf scored at 8:46.
