Jammer's analysis of next year doesn't make sense.

He says he likes weekly lineups, and then complains about having to wait several days for a guy to clear wavers. YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!!

Personally, I did NOT like weekly lineups in baseball. A pitcher or other player gets hurt and you can't replace them for a week, thus getting stuck shorthanded.

If we went to weekly in hockey, and a guy gets hurt (and that happens A LOT), then he couldn't be replaced until the next week.

Forget the weekly lineups!! Stick with daily! Its FUN to screw around with your lineups all the time!

As far as the number of moves, any limitation would be good. Since I don't have stat wacker, I don't have all the inside dope on who's hot and who's not. I just watch the league transactions page and pick up the leftovers. A guy like Tater will run out of leftovers long before the playoffs if we limit him sufficiently. AS WE SHOULD!!!!!!!!!

Jammer rarely makes any sense, but both of you make good points. I'd really like to hear from others too. I don't think there is a right or wrong way here, but I'd like to go in the direction most prefer. Obviously, we have a year to go, but while it's fresh in our minds...

I agree with Woody that it's nice to make changes mid-week to accomodate for injuries.

I agree with you Canadians (Jammer and Darth) about limiting the number of roster moves per year. It seems to take away from the game when rosters are completely overhauled from day to day.

LOL, eh. OK, so say we go with daily, eh? What's a reasonable amount of moves. I don't mind not tatering, eh, and I certainly won't be tempted if I'm limited...but how many is reasonable? I really think 75 is a good number for us tinkerers. Plus you can still tater now & then, eh? But it will stop a bad team from tatering to the playoffs and still having moves left, eh?

I don't want it both ways. Either a daily league with roster limits or a weekly league. I'm not looking for both. This year's hockey league is daily, so having to wait several days for guys to clear waivers sucks. Given the # of roster moves being made on a weekly basis, it seems like anyone worth picking up is on waivers.

I've only done weekly once, which was this year's baseball league. I really liked the lower commitment level required (something retired folks like you don't have to worry about ).

I have no problem with daily leagues, I've been in about 2 dozen of them over the years. I agree that the biggest draw back of the weekly league was getting stuck with an injured player.

I'd be fine with either a daily or weekly league next season.

IMO 75 is still WAY too many roster moves. The season is approx. 23 weeks long. With 75 roster moves, that works out to 3.26 moves per week. Fifty moves would work out to 2.17 moves per week. Perhaps a compromise of 60-65?

As a side note, I can't believe that we're already talking about NEXT year's fantasy league. This season isn't even half way over yet!

We're such nerds! Well, at least I don't have Stat Tracker!

Well, for me the season is longer than 23 weeks...because my teams go the distance.

Seriously though, daily and limit of 65 sounds good.

Now for cats, what do we like? No penalty minutes, but Game winning goals & shots on goal we do like? How about losses for goalies?

I believe 23 weeks was including playoffs. Jerk.

Seriously though, you're a jerk.

Ok, no, for real now. Stop playing around. I'm good with GWG and Shots on goal (never played with this one before). I'm not a big fan of the L category. I wouldn't mind an extra stat category for goalies though, are there any more to choose from? Is it possible to allow them to collect points as well? (not so much goals - although it has happened - but some goalies get a fair share of assists during the season).

I don't know. Those are just my random Cannukian thoughts.

Speaking of the Great White North , Darth, it's so clear that you long to be one of us that it's almost sad. It's like going to the kennel and seeing the little puppy with his nose up to the cage longing for you to take him home.

Yeah yeah, I'm a jerk. Get over it. I ain't changing!!

I don't think goalies can get offensive stats. There just weren't many cats to choose from. Most of the ones we weren't already using were pretty obscure or stupid. The shots on goal is the new default category for Yahoo. They used to use Game winning goals ,but too many people complained it was luck.

I'm sure you understand this being of the eskimo species and all, but others don't know that game winning goal is often chance.

For example:

The Wings score 4 goals to take a 5-0 lead.

The Lightning then get three goals.

Wings win 5-3. Whoever got the 4th goal gets the game winner even though at the time it wasn't a big deal. So it's kind of random a lot. But it's kind of a fun stat, so I prolly should have kept it. I don't know.

Also, I guess I'll see if I can throw in two more positions (utility if they have it). That way we get more action.

Yeah, but when you bring the puppy home, you find out he likes to hump your sofa and make doo-doo on the carpet.
