Move over Gordie Howe, Johan Franzen is here!

NHL.com - Recap

Quote:
Johan Franzen keeps pushing aside Gordie Howe's records.

In March, his six game-winning goals bested the franchise record of five established by Howe in 1952, and on Thursday night, he scored three goals in the Detroit Red Wings' series-clinching 8-2 rout of the Colorado Avalanche, giving him nine in the four-game sweep.

So what did he think of again besting Howe, the Hall of Famer who set the franchise record of eight goals in one series (seven games) in 1949?

"He's been great. He's a big, big man with lots of skill. We're lucky to have him," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. "We feel good about that. I'm not taking anything away from what we did, but their team was depleted by the end here.
Btw, Franzen makes $900,000 a year.

Pretty crucial to have this guy. In the past, teams could try and shut down Datsyuk or Z and take their chances. Now they have to worry about a third guy.

Ah, the good old days. Gotta be Avalanche announcers on this one:

He's been huge for the Wings. But he's not alone, the entire second scoring line of Samuellson-Filppula-Franzen has done major damage. Now opponents have 2 lines to worry about.

With 11 goals, Franzen is outscoring SEVERAL Piston players in the post-season (goals vs field goals)!

The hockey goal is way bigger than the basket. That is not fair to Jarvis.

Jarvis looks like he's wearing Skates on defense.
