During a heated game in Chicago A.D. thought someone was messing with his wife and hopped the scorers table and went into the stands. No he did not pull a ronnie and punch the guy but from what I saw of it he just stood there and waited for security.
Imo the nba should not be to hard on him he was concerned about his wife, but we all know how ugly this could have ended up. He could have gotten himself his wife and his team in big trouble by creating a bigger problem if the fan had hit him.

I guess the only question I have is this dont players wifes/kids get seats in sections that would have a little bit more security than others, and why did it get to the point where he noticed it while playing ball?

I only saw the last part of the segment on espn so I am sure i missed something but wow it could have been a scary scene in chicago

Will be interesting to see what Stern does with this. It's pretty hard to come down on someone for defending their wife.

He should get the "NBA Player of the Week Award". Anyman who would not run to the defense of his wife, is not much of a man if you ask me.

I echo those sentiments Pastor.

Heard on WDFN that the fan claimes Davis's wife was verbally assaulting him and he is suing them for 1mil.

Kind of ridiculas.

I recall another altercation between Davis's wife and some Piston fans during the 02 playoffs. It never got out of hand to that point. There must be something that she is doing or saying because you never hear about this with other players.

But 22-year-old Michael Axelrod said Kendra Davis tried to scratch him after he protested a call. Axelrod said he never laid a hand on Davis' wife and said he was not drunk.
"It's a lie. When I go to games, I cheer as hard as I can for the Bulls, and I boo as hard as I can for whoever they're playing," Axelrod said. "I don't feel comfortable if players are allowed to easily jump into the crowd whenever they feel like it's necessary."
Axelrod's father, David, is a prominent Democratic political consultant in Chicago who has worked with Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley.
Axelrod's attorney, Jay Paul Deratany, said he planned to sue Davis and his wife for more than $1 million. Deratany said he was writing the papers Thursday for a battery suit against Kendra Davis and a slander case against Antonio Davis, and planned to file them Friday.

Okay, so I've seen the Sportscenter drivel and I've seen the Pacers' homer drivel but I need to see some real knowledgeable sports fans ' drivel:nod: .
So last year the ultimatum was set that players will never go into the stands and that was one reason for the (unsettling) harsh suspensions. Now a good guy goes into the stands (under his own false pretenses, apparently) and gets FIVE games? I do not understand this 'tall, but I've definitely got an opinion that ain't much different than after November 19th, 2004.
I smell some corporate BS here, Larry Brown's opinion notwithstanding. Just wondering what you all might think here without rehashing some of the same stuff that came from the Brawl. Anybody?

If his wife can't keep her mouth shut they should ban her for the rest of the season. AD might have thought he had a good reason to violate this rule but I think the sentence was too light for the crime.

I disagree with you guys. Davis has a very good reputation, and it seems his intentions were honorable. The fact that his wife is an idiot shouldn't even come into play when deciding on his punishment. He didn't see the whole incident and only reacted to it as most of us would.

Personally, I'd put family above all else too. I'm not saying he did the right thing, but there were indeed mitigating circumstances at play.

Those who know me know that I generally have a prosecutors mentality. I'm also no fan of Stern, Larry Brown, or the Knicks. However, I think Stern made the right call here.

Kendra Davis was a major PITA when AD played in Toronto. She's got a big mouth and constantly getting up into her husband's business.

Kendra D and Vince Carter's mother were a poisonous duo. I'd rank her 3rd in the NBA behind Vince's mom and Jackie Christie.

I'm surprised no one mentioned this, but Antonio Davis is actually the President of the NBAPA. That's right, he's the player who represents all of the other players. He has a responsibility to either get his wife to stay at home or keep it under control so that he is not put into compromising positions.

Drunk and overzealous fans are idiots. A man in his position being counted on by his fellow players for on and off the court leadership doesn't make impulsive and silly mistakes like going into the stands. Most especially after the Malice at the Palace.

I don't think Davis can control his wife from mouthing off any more than Larry Brown can control Davis by stopping him from running into the stands.

Well, I guess maybe Davis could leave his wife at home or divorce her while Brown can keep Davis at home during road trips or trade him.

Very interesting sub-plot here. The Wife gets into an altercation with a fan who just happends to be the Son of a prominate member of the Democratic party with a ton of clout and a reputation to protect. Mrs Davis could not have known that when she publicly declared the fan intoxicated and the aggressor. Most fans would not be able to do anything about it. Now they have a deformation of character suit to go along with assault.

I can't blame Antonio for defending his wife based on what he perceived was happening from his vantage point. Looks like Mrs Davis just picked the wrong fan to harras. If thats in fact what happend but I cannot see a prominate public figure suing for deformation of character if Mrs Davis was in fact not lying about her account of what happened.

My point is that Kendra Davis has a reputation for shooting off her mouth. She's got a track record, and is no shrinking violet in the stands.

AD's got a lot to lose by having a sideshow going on while he is "at work". Yeah, she should either have the good sense to stay home, or ask to be seated away from where trouble brews.

But that's not her style. I didn't see what happened, but I know this woman. That she finds herself once again being talked about more than her husband's career is no surprise at all to me.

It doesn't call for a divorce. If AD wants to stand by his lady, kudos to him. He can quit basketball or pony up the money for suite tickets where she will not be subjected to the unruly masses. After all, it's hard to pity someone who puts themselves in a compromising position. Woman or man.

His Wife is also going to be sued for a million by the fan. I am assuming Antoinio will have to pay it.

Yeah, it will come out of his pocket assuming she loses that suit. It's no slam dunk by any means. There are a lot of things to consider in a defamation suit. (I'll spare you the boring details).

I'd also assume he can afford the "better" (more expensive) attorney. Then again, that fee alone may cost him a few bills.

According to Axelrod, he was sitting in the seventh row and booed an official's call. Kendra Davis "came out of her seat. I didn't even pay attention to her. I thought she was just going to the bathroom or something," he said.
Axelrod, who was sitting a couple of rows behind her, said she yelled at him to be quiet. Axelrod said he did not know she was Davis' wife until the player ran into the stands.
Axelrod said Kendra Davis put both hands on his face, and that he motioned for security. He said she later went after another fan.
"I was glad she was done hitting me, but I didn't want her to hit anyone else," Axelrod said.
Antonio Davis appeared calm throughout -- though Axelrod said Davis used obscenities -- and walked away willingly when security arrived. He returned to the bench and took his seat before being ejected. The game resumed after about a five-minute delay.
Axelrod was escorted to the concourse by security, but said he was allowed back into the arena and saw Ben Gordon (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/nba/players/3820)'s winning shot at the buzzer.

Yeah, I keep wondering how come he doesn't press A&B charges on her. He can hang that over her head to get them to agree to an out of court settlement on the defamation charges.

My first thought was why would she park herself in the middle of the Bulls fans in the first place? Is this her pattern, to sit in the enemy territory? If it is, and given her history of provoking others, it looks like it's a trainwreck waiting to happen. Maybe that's why AD looked in the stands to see if she was behaving.

Kendra Davis said in an interview with WSCR-AM in Chicago on Friday, "I was just trying to tell the guy to chill out."
Antonio Davis questioned the need for the lawsuit, pointing out that he never mentioned any fan by name. He said the incident started because the fan sitting behind his wife was using offensive language around their son, and she asked him to stop.
Michael Axelrod said Kendra Davis placed her hands on his face, and he motioned for security. But Kendra Davis said Axelrod wasn't threatened.
"I never said that Michael Axelrod touched me, so why he came up with this whole story about me scratching him ..." she said in the radio interview.
Asked if she felt threatened, she responded, "The second guy, absolutely I did."
"When I was talking to Axelrod, he called me a condescending name, followed by an explicit word," Kendra Davis said. "I said, 'How dare you talk to me like that.'"
Kendra Davis said she "probably should have" called for security, but, "I think I taught my kids that you stand up for yourself."

I think one of the keys here is Anotinio played for the Bulls last season and the trade that sent him to NY decemated the upstart Bulls frontline. So the fan in question was probably yelling something about Antonio during the game. Not loud enough for Security to hear but just loud enough for Kendra who was sitting around him to hear.

Instead of alerting security to ask the fan to stop using profanity she confronted him directly and it looks like a second fan got involved. Temperes flared and who knows what really happened.

Bottom line. If she would have just alerted the nearest Usher or Security to handle it ( as thats what they are paid for ) this would never have happened. NBA has been cracking down on fans using profanity so if Axlelrod was and refused to stop then he would have been asked to leave.

Its not like his son is a 5 year old. His son looks like he is at least 6 feat tall and could have handled the problem himself. As for using foul language that is about the weakest excuse to get in somebodys face. I could understand racial slurs but just plain profnity:doh: :pound:? :censored: that stupid :censored: who the :censored: does she think she is the :censored: fcc

Kendra... "Please dont swear in front of my child"
Axlerod...":censored: turn around and shut the :censored: up"
Kendra... "Mother :censored: I will Kill you"

What I thought was great was the whole palace yelling bull crap after a blown call during the finals last year, and ABC tried to edit it. That was funny

Abe - It does look like both parties are to blame and they should just drop the whole thing and move on. Davis gets 5 games. He is the real injured party here.

If there are any further instances of Kendra trying to Police the crowd herself then she should be banned from attending road games. Like it or not she as the wife of an NBA player is expected to set an example and follow the proper channels by contacting arena staff in cases like this.
