I don't know, I rarely watch a movie twice. But "Memphis Belle" I have on tape. Movies aren't like music albums, which get played a hundred times.

WHAT are your top 5 favorite "i could watch a 100 times movies?"

Mine tend to be either the one's that inspire me somehow:

-Life is Beautiful
-Goodbye, Lenin!
-Pollock
-The Pianist
-A Beautiful Mind

Or else savvy 1 intelligent, determined, capable person against a creepy (or merely not so smart) system type things like

-Enemy of the State
-Minority Report
-Inside Man
-Usual Suspects

Or else (often dovetailing with category 2), anything SF or fantasy:

-Matrix (the first one)
-LOTR (esp. 1 and 3)
-Contact
-Shark Attack 3: Megalodon (and basically anything on the Sci Fi channel where something prehistoric mutates and wreaks havoc, all the more so because of some greedy scientist/mayor, only finally to be undone by an upstanding fellow of moderate intelligence paired with a female scientist marginalized by her peers, ending with the two of them somehow laughing despite the fact that 100s of people, including 6 of their helpers have just died gruesome deaths and many of their body parts are still floating around and/or dangling from tree branches)

1. Lawrence of Arabia, because it inspires me
2. Diehard, because its the classic escapist action movie
3. Breaking Away, because it was filmed in my college town, and I'm an extra
4. My Cousin Vinny, because it never gets old to me
5. Pretty Lady, because its such a Cinderella thing

I'd do better to watch these before and during the playoffs, but I'm usually so obsessed that I'm looking at my old game tapes from the night before and even digging up last year's playoff games to watch. It's just all Pistons, all the time around here for me during the Playoffs. But if I had to take a break from my obsession, my top five would be the list above.

Fun question to answer. I just joined NetFlix so I'm looking forward to renting some of the movies on the posts from this thread.

No James Bond Fans or Harry Potter fans out there?

My short list of Movies I tend to watch everytime they come on.

1) Jaws - the original. Classic monster movie with a plot that could not have unfolded any better.
2) White Heat - James Gagne classic and perhaps his best. This is the one with the Grapfruit in the face scene and "Top of the world Ma"
3) The Matrix - part I only.
4) Casino
5) Good Fellas
6) Johnny Brasco
7) Full Metal Jacket.
8) Pulp Fiction
9) The God Father
10) Most Westerns.
11) Dirty Harry
12) Death Wish - Charles Bronson plays vigilante. Part 1 was the best but they are all decent.
13) The Others - classis ghost story and Nicole Kidman looks hot even playing a creep.
14) Jerassic Park.
15) Whatever, I am sure there are plenty more I am leaving out.

I'll see your roundhouse right, and reply with a left jab and right uppercut.

Johnny Neumonic (horrible movie, but based off a great short story in William Gibson's "Burning Chrome" collection)

and the killer?

They Live! - starring Rowdy Roddy Piper (awesome alley fight scene).

One of my faves as well, max, great pick, although Cagney's grapefruit scene was actually from The Public Enemy.

Was Public enemy the one where he played a gangster who turned good but lost everything in the depression except for 1 cab and saved his x-girlfriends husband by stroming his old rivals (played by Hunphry Bogart) mansion?

Angels with Dirty faces was a good one.

I like "revenge" movies: Shawshank Redemption, Harlem Nights, An Innocent Man.

Drama Movies: The Client, The Pelican Brief

Just for fun: My Cousin Vinnie, Romie and Michelle Highschool Reunion, Zorba, Trading Places, Coming to America, Birdcage, The Son in Law

Favorite Fellini films: La Strada, Nights of Cabiria

Godfather 1 and 2. Didnt care for 3. A little trivia: the baby getting christened in GF1 was director Francis Ford Coppola's newborn daughter. Then in GF3, she played Al Pacino's daughter (cant think of her name) and now she directs her own films. Also, Connie (Talia Shire) is Coppola's sister.

Nice selections BSA!

I just watched the new Pink Panther movie with Steve Martin. Great stuff. I was laughing out loud. That Adam Sandler idiot humor doesn't do it for me. Something to be said for the masters like Martin. A++.
