FORT WORTH, Texas, Apr. 22 – The Albuquerque Thunderbirds took advantage of a balanced scoring attack and held off a late Fort Worth rally to defeat the Flyers, 119-108, and win the 2006 D-League Championship on Saturday in front of 3,518 at the Forth Worth Convention Center.
The Thunderbirds 11th victory in its last 14 games gives coach Michael Cooper a championship at every level under the NBA umbrella. He won five NBA rings as a player for the Los Angeles Lakers and two more titles as head coach of the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks.
Glyniadakis scores 21 + 9 to win title.

NEW YORK, April 6 – The NBA Development League (D-League) has awarded expansion teams to four cities for the 2006-07 season, NBA Commissioner David Stern announced today. The teams, all previously associated with the Continental Basketball Association (CBA), are located in Bismarck, N.D., Boise, Idaho, Broomfield, Colo., and Sioux Falls, S.D.

EL SEGUNDO – The National Basketball Association’s Board of Governors has voted to approve the Los Angeles Lakers as owners of a new team in the NBA Development League, it was announced today by Jeanie Buss, the Lakers’ Executive Vice President of Business Operations.
The still-unnamed team will begin play in November for the 2006-07 season.
