dumb move by Sac-Town.

Really, who available is better?

Yeah. Kind of an odd decision. He got along well with Artest and the team really came on strong in the end.

Extremely odd. That's ridiculous. This is another example of a successful businessman owner who knows squat about basketball thinking more highly of himself, and then makes a bonehead decision. Seattle did the same thing last year and look how far they have fallen.

Adelman is a darn good coach. This is a shame. Someone will benefit by signing him this offseason.

He was clearly made an escape goat for the shortcomings of the GM.

I agree with Micro that an escape goat was needed and Adleman fit the bill. Doesn't make much sense unless Adleman dis something like RC did and was rude to the support staff.

Also, I thought that I read that Artest said something like "I will play for free if the Kings bring back Adelman and Bonzi Wells."

I can't believe that they are throwing away the chemistry they were able to develop. Oh well.

I agree with everyone that this is a bad move. Maybe the Malouf`s have someone else in mind to hire, someone that may get the axe soon from another team.

They are not that stupid to fire a coach like Adelman and not have a plan B, at least I would hope so.

Let`s see what happens..........

Hmmm. Are there any hall of fame coaches out there looking for a better job. Any unsatisfied GM's looking for another escape goat, and willing to pay the rest of the contract? Who has deep enough pockets to pay someone to leave... and who has every reason to leave and start "building a team".

LOL, yes it is, but they're referencing an interview that McGrady did during the All-Star break, where he said that he was dealing with personal difficulties by allowing basketball to be his "escape goat." Pretty hilarious malapropism there.

I thought an Escape Goat was what you used to get out of town when people were blaming you for everything.

Very true. Any malapropism used by an NBA player (past or present) stands a good chance of making it into the forum-speak dictionary. Reggie Miller saying that someone deserved "acclimades" is the other popular example.

Ok, I got it. I remember Barkley had a few of those. None come to mind at the moment. Let me think for a few..............

On top of that, McGrady ripped into Weisbrod before the game, which is yet another one of his favorite pastimes. McGrady said (and I'm not making this up) that he was "escape goat" in Orlando. According to his revisionist history, nothing bad that happened while he was with the Magic was his fault. It was all Weisbrod.

"Flip Saunders was an escape goat in Minnesota." - Stephen A. Smith, ESPN, April 15, 2005.

Stephen A. Smith: Paul Silas was an escape goat in Cleveland.

Right before halftime in the NBA All Star Game, Tracy McGrady said that Charles Barkley told him he should use this game as an "escape goat" from all of the problems he's been having lately.

We have narrowed this down to Steven A. Smith and T-Mac.

I didn't hear about TMac's "escape goat". That's pretty funny. And that pic of LB is just too damn hilarious!

Anyway, I've always loved how Iron Mike once said that after his career he might just fade into "Bolivian". That kills me....

How does George Karl sound for coach of the Sacremento Kings?????

linwood

George Karl, Larry Brown, Isaiah Thomas, or Jeff Van Gundy all seem like viable options.

Did anybody watch the interview with Rip, where he said that he patterns himself after Reggie Miller and tries to "mock" him all well as he can (vs. "mimic")?

So let's see, Adelman takes a year off to recharge and do some TNT gigs. JoeD gets bored with the Flipper along about next winter...

Yo Flip, don't let that door smack you in the butt on your way out.

How about Stan Van Gundy?

linwood
05-11-2006, 04:45 PM
How about Stan Van Gundy?Which Van Gundy was fired by Riley? Which Van Gundy can't get the Rockets to perform? I can't really keep them straight, but either of these guys will be jumping on the Escape Goat and heading off to look for new opportunities. Sacramento may have to get a big stable for the interview proccess.

It'll be Vlade Divacs, spelling an end to the "Smoke Free" locker room.

Maybe he can assemble a team of Serbian OGs.

Marko Jaric
Peja
Darko
Nenad Krstic
Zelly

6th man would be Zarko Cabarkapa

"The Sacramento Smokers". They could add some showmanship to the introductions, coming out in smoking jackets with their numbers embroidered on the left breast.

Brings to mind that funny bit in the movie, "The Replacements" when the Welsh kicker is going in for his first field goal and hands his cigarette to the assistant coach.

Looks like Eddie Jordan is on the list as a possible replacement for Adelman in Sacremento. Apparently the Kings have asked permission from the Wiz to chat with Jordan, he has a year remaining on his contract.

The situation in Sac would be a good choice for Jordan, over the Wiz, especially if Artest stays. The Kings would play defense, something he has been preaching to Arenas and his friends, with no response from them of course.

Don Nelson has also been mentioned as a potential candidate.

Halftime entertainment by those nubile youngsters, The NicoTeens, famed for their hot butts. The team would be sponsored by Big Tobacco and immediately moves to a state-of-the-art fliptop arena in Winston-Salem.

Don Nelson is a lousy coach. Plus, he's used to being involved in personnel. Hiring a man like that, who can play to the owners, is a suicide move for the GM.
