Video (attached to this post) to match the Detroit Bad Boys inquiry about the reality of LittleBronJames remaining in Cleveland.

Now pay attention as LeBron James comes onto the stage: he walks up to the table carrying a New York Yankees hat. He tries to act casual as he tosses it on the table, but before he sits down note how he carefully rotates the hat so that the NY logo can be seen by all the cameras. After taking questions for a few minutes, he puts the hat on before standing up and walking off the stage.

He's gone. You have a much better chance of being a billionare (Lebron's stated goal) in New York than you do in Cleveland. In addition to all the advertising and media there, the Knicks may just give him a billion dollars for playing basketball.
Subtle, LeBron.

I hope he stays with the Cavs. For local fans it would a crushing disappointment to see their team take 2 steps forward and 10 steps back. Let the little guys have their chance at winning through the draft.

It's not like he'll need to get much richer... stay away from the NY scrutiny... play in front of the fans you grew up with.
Got a feeling there might be some ok endoresments coming his way even playing in the mistake by the lake.

"not much richer"
Oh yeah. He can get a whole lot richer doing all those huge local sponsor spots in NY than he can doing car dealership promo spots in Cleveland. In NY he'd truly be the biggest thing since the last biggest thing. But don't discount his mama's input on this one.
Remember the Cavs got the cat by tanking their franchise, it would serve them justice if he tanked them for the big apple before it's over. It's all about the ying & yang..

He's not an Indians fan after growing up in Ohio?
That would really irritate me if I were a buckeye.

There is a clause in KingJ's Nike contract that says if he plays for KY, Chi or LA his contract doubles! What was $90 - $100mil. becomes $180 - $200mil. !!!

Has anyone confirmed that clause in the contract? I heard that is a rumor.
Also, it seems like the NBA would guard against contracts like that, because they comprimise the CBA.
Not only can the Knicks afford to go over the salary cap because of their large market revenues, but the players could theoretically take less salary to play there, b/c they would net more overall salary from the advertising.
It is tough being a Cleveland or Milwaukee, eh?

From what we saw this year, let's hope he goes to the Western Conference.

While the Cavs tanking maybe true, Lebron is still their draft pick. Tired of seeing big market teams plunder the little guys by outbidding them. Just an opinion.

Thats why I don't like the NBA CBA. They need a hard cap, as does MLB.

Not to mention his big brother Shawn (Jay-Z/Jigga/'Hova) Carter, I heard that if he signs with Nets (who may be in Brooklyn by then) Jay will make him CEO of his own record label and give him a whole LBJ division of Roc-A-Wear, and have brand new button-up shirts and cuff links on his door step every morning for the duration of the contract, and he'll set him up with Beyonce's lil sister (who looks just like her) Solange.

Heard it on a radio sports show.
They don't need to out bid them, after 3 years the player can walk. Like Houston.
I inderstand the money angle but why on earth would he want to go to the Knicks if he wants to win a title before 2011? They are maxed out with a bunch of untradable overpaid players and thats just now. Give Isiah another season to add more bulk as he always trades for more cap headaches than less. And they just gave up a huge draft pick for a questionable heath center.
Besides even if he does want to go there the Knicks can only offer him the mid-level unless Clev wants to play ball on a sign and trade. Same thing with NJ. Kidd and Carter have maxed them out so they would have to get LBJ on a sign and trade.
Am I missing something here? A sign and trade involves participation from the other team? NJ is more realistic as they can offer something but what can the Knicks possibly offer except salary cap problems?
If he goes anywhere I think it may be to Chicago. They will have the cap space and LBJ wears #23 for a reason.

Although he can't actually wear 23 in Chicago, or, strangely enough, in Miami (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/news/2003/04/11/heat_jordan_ap/).

Strange- at first, I thought they'd retired it because of Harold Miner

Very true - have you looked at the Bulls projected payroll in the summer of 07? They should be 20mil under the cap. That is if they do not make any major moves but you know they are getting that 3rd pick.
Every year rumors originate about NY getting the top FA. And every year they never do. Correct me if I am wrong but I do believe their last major FA signing was Allan Houston in 95? part of the hip-hop culture is wearing things like Yankee Hats. It does not mean he is going to run off to NY and take the mid-level to join the 100mil payroll.

The Heat retired JORDAN'S uniform number?! That's really bizarre, I didn't remember hearing about that. I don't think any other pro team has ever retired the number of someone who never played for them, aside from league or sport-wide retired numbers like #42 in baseball for Jackie.

You think the Colonels wouldn't want him?

Or #99 in hockey for Gretzky.
Re: MJ, I didn't really think about it when it happened, but you're right, it is strange that the Heat would have done that. It's this odd-looking jersey too, half Bulls half Wizards. I think I just dismissed it at the time as yet another over-the-top accolade for his Airness.

Jordan played or something in the Miami area, thats why they retired him jersey. I don't know the full story - I rememebr seeing it in his biography video.
