Now, for a much-needed distraction from the suckfest known as the 2006 Eastern Conference Finals. Gilbert Arenas and Wizards teammate Awvee Storey have been arrested (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2461375) for blocking a street and disobeying police orders. Arenas invoked his little-known diplomatic immunity as a "basketball player."

As Arenas was being arrested, according to reports, he said, "You can't arrest me. I'm a basketball player. I play for the Washington Wizards, and I'm not going to leave my teammate."

Nice job lurker. My approach with the five-oh is,

"Yes sir."
"I'm sorry sir"
"Right away sir."

Never ever resist the police. It never works out.

I second that!! What a bone head. Maybe in Washington that approach may have worked by throwing out that he was a Wizard ball player. If the cop was a basketball fan. This dummy was in Miami they don't give a rats behind you play for the Wizards. He is lucky he did not get billy clubed and maced.

Maybe or maybe not that approach would have worked in DC. It depends on the cop. That response coming from that jerk doesn`t surprise me at all. It just shows how big his ego is.

I can tell you here in DC plenty of high rollers (much higher than Arenas) gets busted for various offenses all the time. I know some cops personally that would love to arrest his ass. He is so full of himself it`s amazing!

Billy clubed and maced, not in DC or Miami, but maybe somewhere in Georgia, or Texas. No offense anybody.........

He missed his court date today, and now there's a warrant out for his arrest (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2501796).

I bet about 48 hours in a maximum security faciltiy would change his outlook on life and his career...........

He would certainly be somebody`s beoch......................

The previous year a friend of mine was in South Beach when Jordan was pulled over for expired plates on his bike. If Jordan couldn't get off I knew Arenas wouldn't be treated any favortism.

Quotes from our man GA....

As Arenas was being arrested, according to police reports...

“You can’t arrest me. I’m a basketball player. I play for the Washington Wizards, and I’m not going to leave my teammate.”

On Tuesday...

“Everyone who knows me, knows I don’t have a cocky personality. I don’t use my name to get in trouble and I don’t use my name to get out of trouble. That would never come out of mouth.”

After an unknown source said he was considering opting out of his contract in 2008, now he says he would take a paycut to obtain a free agent to help the Wiz get closer to that ship.

Funny this latest comment came after a Wiz official asked that his court date be rescheduled after he didn`t show for the original date.

Anyway Gil, you will need more than one free agent to advance in the post season buddy.........

Is it just me, or does Arenas look identical to that cop on Law and Order?

Precisely...which made me remember a link I have to a video by Chris Rock:

How Not To Get Your Ass Kicked By The Police (http://www.superbike.co.uk/video/NYPDtraining_news_83933.html)

It should be mandatory viewing material in ALL high schools

I just watched that the other day. Hillarious. And, sadly, much needed and so true.

 Excellent. Chris Rock is my favorite comedian because so much of his stuff is not only hysterically funny but holds way more than a grain of truth.
