More details to follow. As heard on WDFN 1130 AM.
Mike Williams has been kicked out of Lions camp for "team reasons".

WOW! I was just reading several articles today with Martz singing his praises. Saying he was faster and better than he had thought. He said he was progressing well.

I wouldn't put much stock in DFN---they exaggerate everything

A couple days ago, they were saying it would be hard for Martz to s'can another one of Millen picks since JH bit the dust. They were saying both BMW and Crog were at the bottom of the WR depth chart.

Mike Williams excused from practice because of `team issue' (http://www.mlive.com/lions/stories/index.ssf?/base/sports-1/1149329410277740.xml&coll=1)

So, the real question is, does "team issue" mean:
1. Fat
2. Lazy
3. Late
4. High
5. Sleeping with another player's wife
I don't think its fat, since I've heard he's down about 10 pounds from last season.
Its been well documented that he was late for several team meetings and practices last year and was fined.
We all know about Charles Rogers issues. Was he sharing?
So, I wonder what the truth is?

What about insubordinent.
Good point, I missed that one.
Without trying to read too much into Martz's recent comments about Williams, he did leave me wondering a bit.
(from a freep.com article)
Offensive coordinator Mike Martz spoke highly of Williams on Thursday but said he hadn't been available for practice recently.
"Mike is faster and has better feet than I realized," Martz said. "I just haven't seen him (practice) for about six weeks. He's just been injured or whatever."
The word "whatever," followed by Marinelli's action Friday, leaves open to speculation the level of commitment Williams has made.
I'm thinking that lazy/milking his "injury" might be a possible reason, but that's just my opinion with very few actually facts.
We'll have to wait and see.
As of right now, it looks like 2 of the 3 "Big 3" receivers might not even factor into Martz's plans. Right now (of course its still very early and there some injuries), the depth chart goes:
#1 Roy Williams
#2 Corey Bradford
#3 Mike Furrey as the slot WR
Martz is also high on Glenn Martinez and had good things to say about Eddie Drummond as well. He said Eddie was already in great shape and could just keep running and running all day long. He said his pass catching skills are also improving.
Charles Rogers has been practicing with the 3rd string offence so far. Scottie Vines and Mike Williams have been out with injuries.
Martz also seems very high on Kevin Jones. He feels as though he's an every down type of back and has been working hard on his pass catching and blocking skills. Martz said he expects to get Jones 20-30 carries EVERY game.
So far, I like what I'm seeing and hearing. But if Flip Saunders has taught me anything, its that what a coach says doesn't really mean anything. Until I see it in a game, I'll remain cautiously optimistic.

Well, I'm just cautious, so you're one better than I am!

Well, I guess the answer is late.
Williams missed a treatment session for his injured hammy and then was late for a team meeting.
It was Matt Millen that sent Williams home. Here are 2 links. For the 2nd link, the Williams bit is at the bottom, but the top story is good too.

Thought DFN exaggerated it. If that's all the trouble the new coaching staff is going to have, Lions should be in great shape come the Seattle game.

I do like the fact that he was fined AND sent home. Something that didn't happen - and obviously wasn't an effective deterent - last year.

I'll go that!! Especially coming from Millen. Nice to see unity now in management. And I noticed, as others, that after an a**chewing, they are starting to give out compliments as well. That's the way to build a team.
