Wow. Good things keep happening. This time it's Dimitri Young.
Did you see the look on Young's face after the 2-rbi single? It was the quintessence of joy. After a moment it subsided into a look of lingering self-satisfaction, tempered by the knowledge that he was back with the team. Wonderful moment.
Addressing your earlier question about Tiger excitement, there's plenty. Comerica is selling out on a regular basis, and the crowd cheers long and hard for the "boys," as they never give up. There's general and deeply felt joy for the Tigers in the City and Environs.

Don't sleep on the A's. They're a good second-half team. But the Tigers have something they don't: Great chemistry. Having to listen to the game on MLB radio today. Blackout because FOX is showing it apparently. :frusty:

The A's definitely have potential. There pitching is 3rd best in the majors with only 426 runs allowed (Tigers are first!-only 364 allowed)
Their pitching isn't showing up against us though (currently a 5-5 game in the top of the 5th)

Game 2 of the series just ended with the Tigers losing 9-5. They couldn't hold a 5-0 lead, and Miner didn't look to good today. :frusty:

He hasn't look good the past four starts. He gets behind too many hitters and throws too many pitches. Lack of confidence IMO and certainly understandable. He's still a little green. He's done very well stepping in for Maroth, however. Good thing the ChiSox lost. Lead's still at 6.5 games.

Miner is still 6-2 overall with an E.R.A. of slightly over 4.00. They should still give him a chance. Three starts ago he looked pretty good, when they won against Seattle 2-1. He only went 5 innings but he only gave up 3 hits and only 1 run, with 6 K's.
Today's matchup looks good for the Tigers. The tigers are going with Robertson 8-6 with an E.R.A of 3.61 while the A's have Loaiza on the mound who has struggled (4-5 Record 6.38 E.R.A.) The tigers should be able to get to him.

Tigers win 8-4, Zumaya came in and pitched two really good innings while Robertson had an alright start. The Tigers took 2 out of 3 in the series, even though it should have been a sweep if they could of held the lead in game 2 of the series. Overall, good baseball by the Tigers...

Now it gets tough on the road.... man that August schedule looks rough.
If they can come out of August still on top then in September they can pull away.
