As BEZEACH reported in a different thread (I just felt this needed it's own thread):
ESPN is reporting (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2535249) that the Wings have signed The Dominator to a 1 yr deal.
I like Hasek's game, and hope he can stay healthy.

I really like this move.
We've got a couple of vets in goal who have won a Stanley Cup, and a couple of rookies with potential who can back them up just in case.
Should be an exciting year.

I had a feeling they'd sign Hasek even before they looked at the Bald Eagle.

Nice touch to the forum. I'm seeing red!

This signing is HUGE. Hasek when healthy is still the best goalie in the NHL. Better than Brodeur IMO.

It isn't a bad move.
At first I was skeptical, even a little bummed.
But, it does make a lot of sense.
His contract is small, and all of the incentives are based on playoff performance.
And we've got Osgood as a back-up, who I really think played well last year.
Both guys have won cups for us before, and their team-mates need to have confidence in the goalie, which I think they do.
As good as Legace was at times, I don't really think the players or the coaches had confidence in him. And you could tell that he wasn't confident in himself.
Hasek got injured at the Olympics, and still managed to come in 2nd in shutouts and GAA. And he was on a tear early in the season.

This just in!
Hasek is out indefinitely after pulling his groin while signing his new contract.

His contract was small, one-year contract worth $750,000.
He made 1.5 million last year...

I just read this article (http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060802/SPORTS05/608020436/1053).
It says that Osgood is fine with the Hasek signing, and hopes they make a great one two punch.
Osgood is a good guy, I'm glad he's here.

$750K
Unfrickin' believeable!
Now if we can just save him for the playoffs.
And to think we were paying him $8M a couple years ago!
Manny was the man all last year. You can't dis' his regular season numbers.
