** Please read through to the latest posts in this thread to get information on the current updates and changes planned **

After a slow start to our first offseason at PF.com, things should now be starting to roll.

The first (big) step in our offseason plans is to move to a new server that gives us the room to continue growing while maintaining a high level of service for all visitors.

Our current hosting has served our needs well, however looking ahead there were several areas I wanted to address.

Key reasons for change include
Larger Game Chats
More frequent Chats (Tigers, Wings, Lions, other events)
Personalizing forum information on a per user basis (what you need, when you need it)To facilitate this, PF.com has leased a much faster server with enough disk space to do our own backups instead of outsourcing them to a 3rd party, all on a platform that hopefully allows us to increase resources without more moves over the next two seasons.

The PF.com move will occur Friday August 18th, between 8~11 PM Eastern. Providing we encounter no major issues, the site should be back online for everyone at midnight. We have already moved badboysummercamp.com and all appears to be working well.

There is a catch however. Your Internet Service Provider may not update the path your browser takes to PF.com immediately. Typically this can take up to 3 days to resolve, with most people seeing the change within 8 hours.

If you have any issues finding the new site (you will be able to tell because it will be open for posting) by Monday August 21st, contact information will be provided on the old server web page. I will not be monitoring the Detroit News or Pistons.com forum for member issues.

Thanks for your patience. We're looking forward to a championship future at PF.com! :thumb:

UPDATE

PF.com will be closed from 9:30 AM until *approx.* 12:30 PM EST Sunday August 20th for scheduled maintenance. This is 1 of 3 planned maintenance outages for the offseason.

This maintenance outage addresses infrastructure changes to allow for future expansion at Pistonsforum.com.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

After a little hand wringing and some hair pulling, 1B maintenance is complete.

For the geeks amongst you, we upgraded PHP to the latest stable version (5.1.5).

Thanks for your continued patience as we get things "up to snuff" for 06/07 at PF.com.

PS, Maintenance Phase 2 is still scheduled for Sunday between 6 and noon in the AM.

Sorry for the additional downtime tonight folks (15 mins around 8:45 PM).

Our techs decided to undo their upgrade from earlier today. All part of the joys of running our own server. :) Everything should be back to normal.

This is a reminder that Sunday August 27th I will be upgrading the forums from 6:00 AM to 12 Noon EST.

This is a major upgrade and may remove some functionality already in place. Those features and more will be added back over the next few weeks.

You may also see some slight changes in the forum layout. As with features the layout will be tweaked over a period of time.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

Forum Upgrade Done!

Please read this post, it is very important!

With very little difficulty, the forums have been upgraded to the latest versions of everything we run. While time consuming, everything went to plan.

There will be two followup announcements with details on what has changed. I would advise every member to read these posts as some areas of the forums will work differently than before and new features may be confusing at first.

It is imperative that you RELOAD the forums by clicking the REFRESH button in your browser, or by pressing CTRL + F5 at the same time. Several javascript files have changed and the forums may not behave correctly until you get the new ones.

If you have any questions, comments or notice any errors/problems/bugs please post to this thread.

As a note, the menubar has changed.

Downtime is scheduled for Monday September 4th (Labour Day) sometime in the AM. I expect downtime will be less than 1 hour and should occur between 9:30 and 11:00 AM.

As always, feel free to question, comment or criticize in the feedback thread (linked above).
