Lets hope that the Sox or Twins don't sign him for insurance purposes and he winds up being the missing link that pushes them a head of the Tigers leaving them at home during the post season:ouch:

Very strange.
I agree...wasn't he batting .290 something since his return? I wonder if he's got some more personal stuff going on in the background and the Tigers made a preemptive strike.

Seems like there's more here than meets the eye... he wasn't playing poorly.... maybe he fell off the wagon again?
Irregardless they can't afford to give up on decent left handed bats.

From what I have been hearing Dmitri's attitude was not rosey like management would have liked. He has a lot of problems he is working thru and like most addicts everyday is a struggle and some days are harder than others. The Tigers did not want to deal with it because they are concerned Dimitri's issues may effect the rest of the ball club.
I don't see how this was an issue. If one guy is going to upset the apple cart then you are not a professional and this is not a championship team. Maybe there is more to the story I sure hope it is.

I'm scratching my head on this one. I'm pretty sure it will all come out in the wash.

I thought I posted this earlier but I couldn't find it. I must have goofed.
I am wondering if they released him at this exact point so that he would have time to be picked up by someone else. He can still make a difference and the change of scenery might do him good.
I just hope it does not come back and bite the Tigers.
