Looks like another week of struggles for me...in additon to Etan Thomas and T-Mac being on the shelf, now I find out that Kevin Martin has a bum ankle:mad: :crutch:
:gettinghanged: :frusty:
Anyone want to help a guy out and PM me the league URL and password?
Had a nasty virus and just re-installed my OS.
thanks,

Max, just login at Yahoo and go to Fantasy sports. It should show all the leagues you are in.

The town is only big enough for one of them. I think Melo's numbers go down with Iverson in town. Afterall he is the one that has the ball in his hands so he pretty much dictates how many shots he puts up.

I mainly meant the 15 game suspension and possible getting stiffed by the refs when he does come back.
Good point on AI though. He will take a lot more shots than Andre Miller.

It looks like the league is becoming very stratified, with 4 teams clearly rising to the top (Wombatz, Winless, FD and MP), a second group settling in in the middle (Pastor, Jammer, Big Daddy, #1) and a group of lost souls at the bottom (rdang, Drebs, Swoosh and Max). This week so far, Wombatz, Winless and FD are beating the life out of the second tier teams. Also, MP has lost 5-4 to all three other top tier teams, so we might have to move him into the second tier. Until he shows he can beat one of the big three, we'll have to put him in group 1B.
Most interesting is that Wombatz, Winless and FD are all undefeated, and have yet to play each other. Some really massive weeks ahead!
Of course none of this means a lot, because one key injury could spell doom for anybody on the top. Everybody still has a shot at the playoffs, and once there, the sky's the limit! Guys on the bottom need to be actively considering how they can remake their team to get them into the top 6.
Happy Holidays to all.
I still need some tweaking. Consider that I did not have Allen or Magette last week and still managed to not get creamed going 4-5.
Also expecting Shaq back sometime next month.
I would say my team is better than when I started.

I agree Max.
I also think there is no way that FD finishes ahead of me. He can stick that "b" where the sun don't shine. lol.
My team has improved leaps in bounds since the last meeting. The folks ahead of me have all had cushiony schedules and they still have not broke away from me. No way I should be penalized for having the toughest schedule and staying with the elite. Payback is a mutha!
FD, you've disrepected my team all year. Keep it up..we play well with a chip on our shoulders.

My team has shown alot of courage. Playing without Bosh and Iverson for the last couple of weeks has not been fun and now Lewis is hurt. I have still been able to win even though they have not been dominant victories of late.
Atleast I get Iverson back Friday so my high octane offense should be back on track.

I will say it again is the Swooooosh GM even awake?? That team blows. It needs to be totally overhauled. Bobby Simmons is done for the year been done since the end of November. Also Paja is also likely done for the year but these guy's remain on Swooosh's roster. I don't mind beating up on teams but this is the advanced league guys. I want some real competition in here!!!!!!
As for the rest of the teams settled at the bottom I see you guy's are trying to work the phones to make moves. Good Luck!!!

Yeah, I am taking on more injuries by the day. I get one guy back and another goes down. With Lewis probably out now I guess I will conseed the 3PT stat to you now.
i have had a cushy schedule to be honest. if i had played MP or winless when they were hot early on i would have been creamed 7-2. i kept track. but now i have my full roster back, no such luck for them. MP should be able to catch up in the next few weeks. no way he is 1b.

My first big injury, as Krstic goes down for the year. He's been a monster of late, and losing him will hurt a lot. There just aren't many good centers. I grabbed Brezec. We'll see what percentage of Krtic he is. The great thing about Krstic is PF eligibility.

Matt is a stud. I had been watching for a couple of weeks and just when I was going to sign him someone picked him up. I was dissapointed. Then a week later that GM which will remain nameless (Rdang) cut him. Matt was so upset saying the chemistry on the Rdang team was brutal and the talent level was not good. It seems Matt did not get along with Kobe.
Matt is in a stable environment now the only thing he has to worry about is catching a elbow from Alonzo in practice.
I was worried with Wade's fire start to the week I would be in trouble. It looks like in one night I have over come his stats except for the blks. This will be a good match up.

Nice comeback Winless. It was a wierd night for me. I have Iverson in my other league and he basically won that one for me last night. I beat a loud-mouthed bozo in the other league so it gave me some satisfaction. Now if I had lost to Motown in this league (speaking of LMBs), I would be tearing my hair out...
I don't know if you noticed, but I sat G.Green at the last minute before Iverson took the court, because I thought you might have a good shot at winning TOs. I figured with 8 St lead I was safe. No way Iverson and Ridnour would get 10 steals. If I had played Green, I would have tied on ST, giving us an overall tie. Too damn cutesy!
But with my team absolutely decimated with injuries, I am very happy to take a 4-5 loss. I can't believe that I almost beat you, after losing ~15-20 games to injury last week.

I did notice you sat Green and to think I was thinking about sitting Iverson to make sure I atleast won the turnover battle. I actually thought it was going to be a tie. Yeah, you have shaped that squad into shape. It doesn't take much effort if you know what you are doing and can get the players you need. As long as you have a strong foundation and are good in a couple of categories you can build off of that . I guess your team days of being the Lions of the Advanced League are over. What a shame!! I would have liked to roll your squad again to pad my stats.:cheerleader:

Good year for me fantasy-wise. I'm in five leagues:
Advanced PF.Com League - 2nd Place by 1 game
BlackBrook League - 3rd Place by 1.5 games
BlackBrook II League - 1st Place by 3 games
Open PF.Com League - 1st Place by 0.5 games
NBA.Com Fantasy Competition - 2nd Place by 1 game
If I win the championship in all 5, I'm a bad...bad...man!

By the way, nice pickup FD. I erroneously dropped Jack instead of Boykins. I knew someone would be ALL over that one. I'm happy with Stoudamire though. He really looks good in the new revamped Memphis offense. Plus he gives me 3 point shots. JR Smith returns on Wednesday. Should be interesting to see how that affects the rotation in Denver.

MP, you are a good fantasy baller with a good team (is that an insult for a bad, bad man?).
Everybody goes through the injury bug at some point in the season. I'm just absolutely thrilled that I was able to pull out two 4-5 losses to two of the better teams in the league (Winless and Pastor) despite playing with about half of my team. I won't be a good team again until JSmith comes back. His BL/ ST/ AST/ REB combo are just unique for the SG position. Hopefully I can ride the 27 games over 500 into the playoffs, then have my squad together.
On DStoudamire, I drafted him, then let him go because he is a career 40% shooter. He's been hot lately, but career 40% shooters are career 40% shooters. You can count on the law of averages. Jack may also be a career 40% shooter, but that hasn't been determined yet. JJAck underwent an adjustment period when Roy came back, but I think he's good to go now. The difference between the two is that Jack should be a big minutes guy in Portland, while DStoud is in platoon hell with Atkins in Memphis. In the end the'ye probably pretty even. DStoud more 3's, JJAck more ST.
Really can't wait until we meet again.

Total colapse by my team last night. How do you go leading 6-3 to down 2-7 today you ask?? Easily when nearly half of the guy's playing last night score in single digits and shoot below 30%. Uncle Webz..... Uncle........ I told you stranger things have happened...:yield: :cold:

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Redd will be out four-to-six weeks with a left knee injury, the team announced on Monday.
Redd, the NBA's fifth-leading scorer at 27.7 points per game, hurt the knee during the Bucks' 95-86 loss to Cleveland on Friday night. He strained his patellar tendon, which connects the kneecap to the shin bone.

TAMPA (AP) -- Pistonsforum.com member Motown Pride will be out four-to-six weeks due to a head contusion, the team announced on Monday.
The injury occurred after an easy victory last week.
"I just noticed that after the game my head just swelled up real bad. I don't know what caused it, it haven't been doing anything differently." said Pride.
Pride is hoping the swelling will have reduced before he next plays the Wombatz. A spokesperson for Pride said that if it hasn't completely reduced before that game, it will definitely be fine afterwards.

OK Micro, I’m the Sheed of Pistons posts- a little bored. Not bored with basketball, but with all the little political battles that people like to argue about. I watch basketball for its asthetic beauty, atheleticism and violence. Nothing like watching Nash thread the needle, Carter jump to dunk, get half way up and jump again, Chauncy step into a three at game-time, or Big Ben throw some %%%% into the stands. I just can’t be bothered worrying about whether Flip gives a Flip about Flip or likes Rip better than Flip. Or whether Sheed is T’d, or Peeved. Those politics are important during the playoffs, not so much in the regular season. When the season is on the line. Right now its about asthetics (and fantasy ball!!) for me. The other problem is, I don’t get to see more than a few Stones games live each year on the east coast and with no NBA Tv, so I can’t keep bringing fresh commentary. Instead you’ll have to read my stale summation of how I think its all coming down. Some select topics:
Sheed and the Miami Effect: Shaq is absolutely the worst thing for basketball. His pattern of taking off ¾ of the season in preparation for the playoffs sends a terrible message to the rest of the league. Does anyone really believe that he’s injured right now? He’s only got so many games in the tank, and he’s going to use them when it matters. Unfortunately, impressionable yout’s like Sheed come to see that as long as you sneek into the playoffs, doesn’t matter how the regular season goes. The entire East has followed Shaq into mediocrity. The west is still competetive enough that winning games matters to some extent. But really no one is going all out anywhere. The number of player games missed this year to the “flu” is another measure of how far the league has fallen. You have a barf bucket at the end of the bench and heave during time-outs.
Mental cases: It has been clear for a long time that the biggest problem for the Pistons is that they’re extremely fragile mentally. (Not Artest fragile, but championship fragile). Hugely talented, weak mentally. Larry Brown’s big personality could keep it under control. I’m not so sure that Flip can. Its clear what they’re capable of when they decide to screw it on right. If they had San Antonio’s brains with Detroit’s talent, they’d be the best team ever. This whole back against the wall mentality is so obviously F’d up, and yet they keep bringing it season after season. San Antonio just goes out and leaves it on the court every night, no excuses. If I were running the team, I’d get the starters on the bench every time they let down mentally. Its not about developing young players or overplaying the starters. They have enough guys in the rotation, and no one is getting too many minutes. Its about getting guys who want to give their all every play. When the Pistons do that, they are beautiful to watch. But 90% of the time they don’t.
Big Ben: Am I the only one who is very happy the way things worked out? The reason the Pistons have had the best starting 5 in the NBA for the past couple of years, is because Big Ben was the most underpaid All-Star center of all-time. His selflessness allowed us to pile on high salaries, and remain fiscally responsible. He did not sit around and harp about it. If he had the team would have crumbled. In fact, his example made it so that no other Pistons could complain too much, and all of them are probably relatively underpaid because of it. And in the end Ben did get paid, but luckily it was not by us. His skills are clearly in decline (he’s still very good) and if we had paid what the Bulls paid, we’d regret it for a long time. We got our championship because of his selflessness and unique skills. Please give him the respect he deserves at all times.
JoeD: My hero. He is not in decline. He’s just dealing with a much more difficult financial situation. He’s got a lot of money tied up in the big 4, and has had to fill the spaces in between with whatever money is left. There’s not an over-paid player on the team. He’s made one responsible decision after another. The only possible complaint is how the whole Darko fiasco came down, but that is very simply explained in that we just didn’t know that Sheed was going to fall into our laps. That’s the whole story. Darko simply wasn’t good enough to play minutes on a championship calibre team once we got Sheed. Will Darko be an all-star in 3-4 years: yes. That’s too long to wait on a top tier team. Joes next big challenge is to determine exactly the right time to start jettisoning the guys in their prime (Billups, Prince, Hamilton) in order to get the next batch of hungry (and cheaper) yougsters into town. But he should maintain the course as long as he has a chance at
The ‘Ship. We’re one of 7-8 teams who has a legit shot at winning it all this year, determined mostly by who is healthy at the right moments. No other team can say more than that. We lost last year because Sheed and Rip were gimpy. We won or got to the finals the years before because Wade and JO’Neal were gimpy. We’ve got a great chance to get through the east, and once in the finals, its anyone’s game. Kudos to Joe for keeping us at that level. Let’s hope the boys have picked up some mental toughness after coming so close the last two year.
I don’t know if there’s any unique ideas here. Just one man’s ramblings. Please feel free to put it into the regular Pistons posts, if it fits anywhere.

My team has not been playing well the last couple of weeks. I thought with Bosh coming back my team would be dominating. I'm such a goof ball. I put Mopete on the line up today not realizing that I had already beat my guy 6-2. Mopete's contribution would have only mattered if he hit a couple free throws but he went to the line zero times.
The consequences?
+2 TO pushing it more than my opponent and losing a point there.
Risking my FG% to go down as well (luckily mopete played well).

Just to start a new argument with you MP, I would rather have DWade than Arenas. You're similar on PTS and ST, give up a lot on the threes, but get more REB, AST and BL than Arenas, without the aweful FG percentage. That's the beauty of Wade. He shoots a lot, and makes a lot. Pretty rare combo for a G.

I'll buy that arguement. Except I would say that Gilbert Arenas is more apt to give you an astronomical performance than Wade on a given day. In a rotisserie style league I take Wade. In a head to head type deal I like guys that can spout out for huge numbers. Both Wade and Arenas have been swapping back in forth as the head of the fantasy class so I'd say we are both making out like bandits. :hoops:
Based on my numbers Wade is better this year on a per game basis and a per minute basis. But, Gilbert has an overall higher level of productivity because of the games Wade has missed. If you believe Wade will continue to miss games at the same rate as the season to date, Arenas might be a bit better.

Keep in mind that Arenas has a pretty good history of injuries as well. He's also a guy who goes at the rim with little abandon. He's very lucky to be in a healthy stretch. No question that Arenas has benefitted MP more than Wade me, because of Wade's injury.

Looks like I can't possibly win PTS or 3Pt this week. Hopefully I'll get everything else.

How am I doing so far? I am traveling this week and my company firewall on my laptop blocks me from going to the Yahoo fantasy website. I will be home tomorrow night and get back on my home computer.
TMAC went off tonight with 45 pts, but I heard his back is hurting again. Also James looks good so far tonight, just hope that the Cavs lose the game though.
Little Kmart has been an enigma. He struggled in late December and I should have traded him when somebody offered me Baron Davis straight up. I know he is a shooting guard, but he provides no help in the assists category at all.

Question of the year so far: Why is the returning champ in 11th place? On paper, things look alright. Great bigs: JONeal, DwHoward, Brand (and some rebounders to boot: Varejo, Collison, Gomes), reasonable PGs (Hinrich, Williams, Claxton), 2/3 are good enough (Jefferson, Deng, Crawford, JHoward, Gordon). What’s the problem? I’d say a mix of injuries (Claxton, Howard, Jefferson) and slow starts (Brand, Gordon). While I don’t think its panic time here, as the players should pick it up soon, I also don’t think that a repeat of the championship is in the cards. Let’s say good but not great. Last year, #1 was good at trading, and built a team that had way too much talent for a 12-team league (and I almost beat him- lost by 2 3 pointers dammit!). He’ll need some of that magic again if he’s going to rise to the top.
Strengths and weaknesses: A few strengths (AST, REB, BL) are off-set by some weaknesses (3Pt, Pts, FT%- no real bonafied scorers here, he may lose these every week).
Recommendation: Trade for a premier scorer/ shooter. Try to get Allen, Arenas or Bryant (while his stock is low). Maybe package Howard (FT% killer) and a solid PG (Hinrich or Williams). (Remember, Wade is still on the table, and you rode him to glory last year. Make me an offer, 2:1.)
Finish: Upper-Middle of the pack. But no 'ship.
I'd like to reassess my analysis.
Strengths and weaknesses: From here on out its going to be hard for anyone to defeat me in FT%, REB, PTS or AST. Once weak categories FT & PTS have been turned around by strategized trades. I could argue that I have no real weaknesses now, but if I had to I'd say it's BLKs.
Recommendation: Already dominate in the REB category gives the flexibility to trade David West and/or maybe even E. Brand for a top 3PT shooter to dominate in yet another category. (but I think I'll stick w/ my squad as is)
Finish: I'll finish 3 or 4 in the standings but I'll take the ship. Picking up R. Lewis and David West showing no rust pretty much makes me the favorite.
All criticism is welcome.

I've already said this about Winless and Wombatz earlier this year, but you do appear to be the team to beat at the moment. You seem to have a magic touch when it comes to trades and acquisitions. Looks like Granger and Collison may be very valuable pick-ups and the trade for West looks very good right now.
There are 6 teams who have about an equal chance of winning it all at this point. It really all depends on injuries down the stretch. You've got to be lucky.
Another variable that actually sucks is that the yahoo playoffs are in the last week of the regular season, when a lot of players shut it down. You have to wonder what kind of production guys like Nowitzky and Howard are going to have when there's no reason to be playing.
Looking forward to seeing how my guys measure up against your juggernaut.

I play all the top teams weeks 16-18 (and Motown this week), so I'm really looking forward to seeing how that goes...Picked up Collison very early in the season and staying with him through his ups and downs has paid off as of late.

If you want him then make me an offer.
The thing is with Crawford, I may have to bench him on Sunday because I have to win the TO stat this week. There is no way I am beating FD on points and so far I have a lead of 6 in 3-pts with Ray Allen, Korver, Bibby and Billups playing this weekend.
For someone who has given up on the TO stat Crawford would be a nice pickup. His FG% is low but has been improving.

FD - I knew I would take a beating on Sat since you seemingly had your entire roster playing. But today is my day. Have some pretty big guns out there to your 4 active players. So I should take 3-pt, steals, maybe assists and have an outside chance at points and rebounds.
I am playing Crawford since I have a decent lead in TO's.

Max,
I've been feeling all week that you were going to pull this one off. I'd say that you'll win 5-4, could be more. I'll win Pts, Reb and BL for sure, but the rest are up for grabs. Even FG% seems possible for you. For me, it all rests in the hands of Raja Bell. If he can knock down another 6-7 threes, I've got a chance. He's done it before. My guys just didn't bring it this week. I'll gladly take a 4-5 loss at this point. Did you hear that fantasy gods?

We're only half way thru the season still, this thing isnt won during the season (unfortunately). Although I would prefer the winner to be determined over the course of the season rather than by who happens to sit out the last few games, or who has more games played in the final week.
#1's team is definitely geared for the playoffs after he picked up some injured stars and stored them on the bench. That team will definitely be scary and looking unbeatable around playoff time. Looking back, I could have afforded to grab Lewis.
But still, like what happened to me last year in Novice, I care less about winning the playoffs, I would rather win the season.

I accidently sat out Stackhouse on Thursday ( my only player that day ) who had a good game with 16 pts and couple of 3's and steals. Main reason why I added him was so I could have someone on the books for Thusday and I don't activate him.
I have been giving you guys at the top some competition but it may not be enough this week. You still have a couple of good players out there.

#1 has a good team without Lewis. I would not count on him to come back and be the dominate player he was. He still has pain in that hand and it is still swollen. He can't even stroke it from 3 point land without considerable pain. His shooting percentages will probably go down along with his production.

I guess it has to be part of the strategy because of yahoo's system. But i will never be sold on the idea of having to dump all your stars in the last 2 weeks because they are not playing and resting for the playoffs and replacing them with waiver material on .500 teams because they are the only guys still playing the full 35-40 mins.

C'mon Winless. A good team? Let me try to sell you on this statistic. Look at how may players I have that are rated in the top 50 for the season. I have 10 (and Anthony Parker is ranked 52nd). The other 3 players left - Delonte West, Nick Collison & David West.
Lewis doesnt have to be the top 5 player he was, I'll settle for a top 15 or 20. Looks like my good team will be climbing the ranks again this week, I might be able to jump up to the 2nd seed before seasons end.

I mainly meant the kind of guys you carry. Have Nowizski or Nash and you are going to pay the price. Then again some team that secures the 8th or 7th seed or is trying to develope youth near the end is going to burn you as well.

No, I don't blame you. I read all of the reports and they said 2 more weeks. Apparently there was an interview with Michael Redd where he said Mo Williams was going to come back Sunday. The transcript of that interview was not online until Sunday afternoon after the game started and it was too late to change my lineup. I normally play injured players when it gets close to their date of return if I have an open roster spot just incase they deside to suit up. I just totally forgot to do it. Oh well...

Yes it would have been nice - just to get a win. Some of my guys struggled as well. I know Crawford had the 50 pt game - Bibby, CB and Allen had 0 steals in their final games.
Yes if some of you guys want to deal. But Sorry, I am not trading Billups for Mike James or anything of that sort. Honestly look at what categories you are trying to improve and which ones you don't care about.
I have been good at FT% and want to improve my FG%. Would not mind parting with one of my volume shooters like Crawford if anyone out there is looking for points and 3-pt's at the expense of FG% and TO's.
Also will be open to moving Shaq. He had 4 blocks in one of his 2 or 3 games back. 1st hack a shaq though and I may lose FT%. I can't seem to win blocks anyway.
Crawford and/or Shaq for a decent offer.

Actually I had posted that as an example of the kind of deals I get. Sorry if you mistook it. Ray Allen is not on the block unless I got somekind of great offer.
Let me know if you would be intersted in Crawford or Shaq, or even Bibby. I have absolutely no loyalty at all to my players so...

I might be interested in Bibby. Shaq is stealing money right now so it would depend on what you wanted for him.

I get the same kind of trade offers.
Basically, I will no longer make trades unless I suggest them (which I am not too likely to do). Everytime I get sent a trade offer, it usually is because someone is trying to pull a fast one.

I see your point, but if you are dwelling in or near the cellar you need to get agressive and make some type of moves. Obviously at this point if you don't have injuries then likely you have a poor mix of players. Sometimes a fire sale is in order.

I had originally brought that up a couple of months ago. It would be nice if we could all assume that none of us are suckers.

Thought it was your way of saying your team was about to pimp the rest of us for the rest of the season. :)

Alright I will change it back, afraid I would offend someone.
It is an inside joke from the Jim Rome show if anyone is wondering where I got it from.

You two are kidding me right, neither trade would help me at all.
I'm really not looking to move anybody unless its for KG, Shawn Marion, Lebron or maybe R. Allen.

Nonsense. I was under the impression that you were interested in concentrating some of your above average guys (all the guys I asked you for) for some elite players. Wade is top 2 or 3 fantasy players right now and easily worth any two of the guys I asked for, Boozer is a WC all-star, and have you seen Roys numbers of late? Jack was just a throw-in. Only reason that deal may not be even is that Boozer is out, but he'll be back in plenty of time for the playoffs, which is all that matters. With your team, you don't need to worry about making the playoffs. I was hoping for a counter offer?

Fair enough deal, #1, but I need to get bigger with Wade. Looking for the best PF/C I can get for him, in a 2:1 deal. That means Wade for two lessers, at least one of whom is a PF/C.
Not a terrible offer, MoPrides, but not quite enough to pry him from my fingers. As Jerry West likes to say, "we're not going to give him away."

I would also like to mention that Jorge Garbajosa is on the table right now for the perfect price.

I don't know why the Novice banter is so dead this year. Apathy, I guess.

So I took his team. And stole your hearts and minds!
