In a Shocking turn of events, the player known to the rest simply as Majestik was silenced by the killer. Authorities are unsure if the killer(s) just wanted to shut up the prolific poster or just....wait. Wrong guy.
Maj is dead. Victim of an elaborate trap involving 500 jellyfish, a clownfish and the EAC...dude. Who could have contrived such a cunning end? Who cares. Point fingers at your friends. Vote for your dad. And heat up the Linwood MEmorial Coal Burning oven!!!! yeeeehaaaa.

The Piston word almost has to be "Wallace" or "Campbell" (Elden) as you pointed out last round.
I'll do an update of the cast of characters in a minute and then do some sleuthing.

well if it is one of the two, then it will be for sure by the next murder which it actually is.

That's true, but as I understand it, the murderer might be using the two basketball words without using the Pistons word--in that case, the A L L E C could be in a non-Pistons, non-Basketball word, such as "challenge."

nope. letters define the pistons word only.

No. Theoretically, the murderer doesn't even have to use those letters anywhere in his entire post. BUT...those letters are part of the Pistons word.
So he has a choice of using two of three words in any given murder post. He can change words with different murders. If he uses the Piston word in a murder post, THAT Pistons word has the letters A L L E C in them.
So if our murderer used a Piston word as one of the two (of 3 possible) then it MUST have those letters.
So if his words are hoop, rim ,and Wallace he can use:
Wallace and hoop for one murder
rim and hoop for the next
Wallace and EITHER hoop or rim for the next. Or hoop and rim again, etc.
Any combination is acceptable.
So our clue is that the Piston word has certain letters. It's not much to go on.

It seems that if a Pistons murder word appears in a murder post, it's only there because the murderer is trying to taunt the other players.

I'm saying I think we might not see the Pistons word at all--it's too much of a giveaway. Using something like "hoop" and "rim" (from your example) is much sneakier.

Well, yes except for the fact that (using the example) by now with five murders if the murderer(s) have both never used the Pistons word Wallace it would mean that basketball words "hoop" and "rim" both would have appeared in five murder posts. Inspector Clouseau on high alert!
Slippy said we'd have to look for patterns. Think everyone. Is there a pair of basketball words we've seen alot of? We're all dead if the words are team and basketball. :pound: Believe it or not, I'm working on a spreadsheet. But with generic basketball words, there's alot of data.

but actually, "hoop" and "rim" are just examples, correct?
so in fact, if the murderer(s) have both never used "Wallace" (which, as lurker said, they have no reason to do except to sort of toy with us) the clue words could be absolutely anything related to basketball...
tashawn, how come you voted for Dumars4Ever?

I do have a lead, Prof:
In the "Rasheed Wallace: the key" thread. Highly suspicious post.
It's post #26. It uses the words Elden "Campbell" a possible Piston word plus several other generics in its text and also in its quote.

He also uses Wallace in that same post. Hmmm... interesting.
What do you have to say for yourself Lurker?
The definition of a "Lurker" from Wikipedia:
In Internet culture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_culture), a lurker is a person who reads discussions on a message board (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Message_board), newsgroup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newsgroup), chatroom (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chatroom) or other interactive system, but rarely participates.

I write a actual basketball-related post, and not only does nobody respond to what I wrote, but I get accused of murder for it.
Look, I'm not pretending about not understanding the rules. If I were the killer, maybe I would be the one "helpfully" answering others' questions while plotting world domination. It's a shame we didn't bake you when we had the chance, Mr. Sheldon J. Plankton.

Whoa, someone voted for me? I agreed to play in this round since I thought I might be able to follow the rules once I sat down and figured them out, but boy was I wrong. I'm way beyond the point of being too  to even guess at who the killer is.
Although I suppose this passage from Reservoir Dogs is appropriate to the situation:
MR. PINK: I can say I definitely didn't do it, cause I know what I did or didn't do. But I can't definitely say that about anybody else, 'cause I don't definitely know. For all I know, you're the rat.
MR. WHITE: For all I know YOU'RE the f&*$in' rat!
MR. PINK: All right, now you're using your f$^#in' head!
what date/time do the polls close? i'm gonna do some sleuthing tonight, when i have some spare moments from setting my fantasy draft order. :reading:

RIIIIIIIGHT. Tay: vote against darth next time. :yellowprison:
Here is my last minute report. I didn't have time to go back through previous murders to look for patterns, etc so here is what I found for this round.
Not suspected:
Its definitely not Warthog.
Its not Tayshaun.
Possible suspect, but didn't post potential piston-related word (either WALLACE or CAMPBELL)
Hack - only one potential post containing 'roster and 'drafting'
Low - only one potential post containing 'ranking, season, conference'
Prof - multiple potential posts containing an array of basketball words
Dumars - multiple potential posts containing array of basketball words including a suspiciously bogus story about a car stereo, slyly filled with basketball-related words such as 'CD player' and 'Triple A'
Darth - a zillion potential posts but couldn't find any, believe it or not, with either piston-related word
Possible suspect, with posts containing potential piston-related word (either WALLACE or CAMPBELL)
Lurker - only one potential post containing 'WALLACE, CAMPBELL and other basketball words' as pointed out already.
Aurora - two posts containing 'WALLACE' and a myriad of basketball words such as fan, title, team, players, offense, defense, rebounds, and post
Jammer - one post containing 'WALLACE' but with long-shot words in the same post, 'free throw' and 'second'
All 3 had other basketball-related word posts without the pistons-related word.
So....
Not a great deal to go on. Could be almost anyone still. This would require going back through previous murders but its just too big of a job. If anyone wishes to use this data and go back, be my guest. Time is running out though.
On my hunch I reckon I could narrow it down to either PROF, DUMARS, DARTH, and LURKER. Giving benefit of doubt to Aurora for her sleuthing abilities. We need more detectives around.
Hmm, so I guess my choice based on circumstantial evidence is.... :sssh:
Grab those flaming sticks, hoes, picks and shovels.

Oops . . . you left out yourself, there webz. I think it's time to remind everyone that your signature is full of murder words, including a possible Pistons word. You're incriminating yourself every time you post.
It seems that you've been living two lives. One life, you're Ben Wallace, the face of a respectable basketball organisation. You have Defensive Player Awards, All-Star selections, and you... help take out the garbage.
The other life is being involved in the offensive flow, where you now go by the alias "Bull Ben" and are guilty of virtually every jump-shooting crime we have a law for. One of these lives has a future, and one of them does not.

Lurker: I asked Slippy about signatures a couple of rounds ago. He told me that they don't count. It makes sense because a person can kill with his signature and then make it disappear forever two hours later. So signatures are outside the field of play.
Webz: Aurora also did an extensive search last night and early into the morning hours. It basically produced the results yours did. My search was not quite as thorough yours and Auroras, but Lurker had the most suspicious post I could find.

The Prime Suspect is Lurker IMO.
Maverick murder post cluewords: defensively games rebounding scoring
Majestic murder post: defensively rebounds Campbell Wallace (Pistons words)
However why would Lurker use all three of the cluewords in the Majestic murder post? Hmmm...maybe to taunt us? :pound: These serial killers like you to notice and admire their work.

The group dragged Lurker kicking and screaming to the LMCBO. "You guys don't have a clue what you are doing!!" cried Lurker.
"What do you mean...murderer!!!"
"Me? I make one post and I get hanged for it."
"What do you expect with a name like...Lurker!!!"
"But I post all the time!"
"A-ha!! So you admit your guilt!"
Lurker knelt down. "Now I see the errors of my ways...how errant justice is not justice but the prosecution of the disabused. Let my charred flesh nourish the minds of those that remain so that they may chose...nay, cherish the responsibility of rock solid evidence."
"I'm more of a pork rinds kind of guy. Now where is that can of duck fat?"
And so it was that Lurker paid for the murder of Majestik and the group, fat and happy, debated posting more about Darko.
