"I've been playing every other year so far since I got over here, so that's one of my goals this year -- try to stay healthy and do a good job when I'm on the ice," he said.

Kronwall had played 20 games with the Wings in 2003-04 when, during pregame warm-ups Jan. 22 at Los Angeles, he got caught in a rut and suffered a broken right leg. He spent the following season wowing the AHL, finishing as the league's best defenseman. Last season he was slated to be a key part of Detroit's defense, but that plan was shot after Kronwall suffered torn left knee ligaments on a clean hit by Dan Hinote in an exhibition against Colorado.

This guy has a ton of upside, and really just seems to have hit some bad luck. He really seems to have all of the tools the Wings scouting spotted in him when they drafted him. Which is to say he should be a top defenseman in the NHL.
