When Johan Franzen came to camp a year ago, he expected he'd land in Grand Rapids and get a year to acclimate himself to North American hockey.
Instead the Swede played so well defensively that he earned a job in Detroit, where he played so well that now there's talk of him earning more playing time.
This guy came out of nowhere last season, and I'd be pleasantly suprised if he is able to do more. The best thing this guy has going for him is his heart. They say he has a good, hard shot, but his heart is what keeps him on the ice. A real character guy.
