Heck Jammer, if I thought that good for nothin' whippersnapper knew enough about basketball or the pistons to even post a clue word, i'd suspect him myself and mebbe even lead the posse to the hangin' judge . . . but fact is he wouldn't know a basketball related post if it climbed up into his saddle and bit him on his hind end, though Jesus knows I've spent mor'n my share of time out in the woodshed trying to tan some pistons knowhow into his thick hide.

'kay, here's what i've done so far. For each suspect, including me, i did a no-keyword, advanced search looking at all posts between 9:11 pm on 9/21, when Lurker was hung for majestik's murder and last night when Warthog was found dead. I looked through those results for basketball related posts, or basketball related words in non-basketball posts. Next, I did a second search for each suspect, in the same time frame looking for the keyword "wallace".

Now, remember that the murderer didn't have to use the word "wallace" in any posts. So it's absence doesn't make someone innocent and its presence doesn't make someone guilty.

of all the possible suspects, ranging them from least to most suspicious

The Low: didn't post at all during the time frame, no wallace obviously.

Tayshaunofthedead: didn't post at all during the time frame, no wallace obviously.

Dumars4Ever: posted 1 time during time frame, in Wolverine-Spartans Win thread, looked pretty innocent to me, though the word "championship" could be construed as a basketball word. no wallace.

Professor: posted 2 times during time frame: 1, a quote from the matrix in the dave cowens thread, 2 announcing his sign up in the novice league thread. (besides i know that I'm innocent, unless of course i'm a "zatarg" [http://www.scifi.com/stargate/episodes/season04/0405/]) no wallace

Webz: posted 4 times during time frame, all innocuous looking. no wallace.

DarthTater: posted 8 times, but it was all meaningless babble in baseball, spartan, or fantasy football threads. no wallace.

Aurora: posted just 5 times during time frame, mostly innocent and in innocent threads, except for one suspiciously "wallace"-ridden post yesterday in the September Articles thread.

Jammertime: posted 13 times during time frame. mostly very short messages, but a handful of them contain basketball related words (offense, finals, etc.). no wallace.

Hack: posted 15 times during time frame. lots in the "Darko" thread.lots of uses of the word championship. then also "fans" "bench" "rings" and "coach." no wallace.

you are totally right Roscoe. they don't have to use it any murder post. they can just use the two basketball related words everytime if they want.

and at this point, especially, it would get pretty risky to use the word in the murder post.

if i went on instinct (one i've had for some time), i'd say darthtater is one of the murderers. he's a wily beast. but, i really didn't see anything suspicious from him in this last round at all.

I have a telephone book size Excel spreadsheet with all the suspects, all the murders, all the hangings and all the posts in the murder time frames. It's so nice to see someone approaching the horror with a disciplined mind. :)

As far as your reference to my alleged murder post, well...I'm not the one. What are you going to build a case on? The defense will argue temporary insanity due to severe memory loss. Late one night while investigating a suspect, the accused ran across a RealGM article posted by webz about the future of her beloved DEEEETROIT BAAAASKETBAAALL  and the Pistons defensive prowess or lack thereof. In that instant she completely forgot about the murder game. Whaddya gunna do? Yeah, ok, so I've had enough analysing. its still too difficult to sort. To quote George from Seinfeld, "This things like an onion, the more layers you peel, the more it stinks!"

This research may be WAY OFF, but there are FOUR non-pistons words that keep coming up. They are:
- Team
- Game
- Season
- Play (which also resides in the words player and playing)

And to a lesser extent
- Coach
- League

'Wallace' has gone hiding during the last few killings, and has barely come out at all during the whole game even.

So from the FOUR non-pistons words above I have found:

Jammer has had the combination of words 'game & team', 'season & team', and 'play & team' appear in 4 of the 6 death periods and that doesn't include death period 2 which i didn't bother with because of his spam post. Wallace has appeared only once with the words 'free throw'.

Hack has had the combination of words 'coach & team' appear in 4 of the 6 death periods, and 'coach & game' appear in 3 of the 6 death periods. Wallace hasn't appeared.

Prof has had the combination of words 'play & team' appear in 3 of the 6 death periods. Wallace hasn't appeared.

Dumars has had the combination of words 'game, team & season' and 'play & team' appear in 2 of the 6 death periods. Wallace hasn't appeared. In his favour, he has posted 1 post or less in 3 of the 6 death periods. Not a likely suspect.

TheLow & TayFTD I don't suspect due to lack of evidence.

That leaves Aurora and Darth.

Darth has posted too many times to waste 5 hours researching, but his knowledge of the rules and co-commish relationship with Slippy in the forums leads me to suspect him very highly.

And Aurora, well she has probably posted the word Wallace more than anyone, but for whatever reason (maybe too kindly), I don't really suspect her, and because of her sleuthing reports.

So I guess Jammer is probably my highest suspect so far (and initial gut instinct from round 1), but I've thought all along that Darth just has to be one of the killers and so due to a lack of a standout suspect, Darth will receive my vote. Sorry buddy.

My team is history. I lost Alexander today to a broken foot. Yesterday, F. Gore stretched for a TD, ended up fumbling and hurt himself and left the game. I'm voted to hang Hack. The evidence is simple: there are a lot of generic basketball words in multiple posts. I think he may have posted more than his usual volume, maybe to cover his tracks.

I am embarrassed to say that the pairings of words that could be a murder post are less than compelling:

Team and ring
Coach and game
Coach and team
Team and game
Ring and team

There's alot more but you get the idea. All very generic words.

:sorry: if I'm wrong. As Roscoe pointed out to all us investigators, the evidence hasn't served us very well in this game so far. If wrong again, someone else will die. :( :ohwell:

As the late Roscoe once profoundly stated (can't remember if it was shortly before or shortly after his death :pound:): "He...just...won't...die..."

I feel like the road runner with the Coyote always after me. Happily, the ACME anvil keeps landing on the coyotes. So far, anyhow.

I just don't know why you guys get this hankering to cook me every so often. I didn't do it. If I did there would be some evidence with all the scrutiny my posts get.:reading::reading::reading::reading::reading:. You can't possibly believe I'm using dissappearing ink. Maybe I just won't post over the next 3 days if we missed again (please tell me we got him)...but I doubt I can keep my mouth shut that long.

Kim and I vote alike (generally, not always) because we both base our decisions upon the evidence. It hasn't worked out so well (hopefully we got it right this time), but you don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Maybe our technique was faulty...maybe there just isn't enough evidence, but we are doing our best.

I went to the last Monday night game the Lions had at the Silverdome...St Louis kicked our butt 35-0...
Brag time . . . I went to the last Pistons game in the Silverdome: Game 5 of the 1988 Finals, Pistons 104, Lakers 94, Pistons up 3-2, on the verge of the first title, but it was not to be. :(

Sorry . . . back to being dead. :skull:

Slippy, can we get a ruling on when the polls close?

:attention I can't believe only 3 people voted! That's so :lame: !

What's your excuse? Prof? Tay? Jammer? D4e? Hack? Low?

Okay, here's a multiple choice survey. Choose one please.

:suspiciou I suspect everyone and couldn't decide.
:burp: I was drunk at the time.

 I forgot.
:smiley-poker:I was losing my shirt in a poker game at the time.

:couch2: I was watching TV instead.
:peep: I'm keeping a low profile in hopes of staying alive.

:hungry: I was eating dinner at the time.

:football: I was watching God give the New Orleans Saints a win.

:nailbiting: I'm a wreck thinking about the next murder.

:bored: I'm way bored.

 I'm utterly confused as to who to hang.

:yellowprison: I'm in jail.

:reading: I'm still trying to figure it out.
:gun1:I'm planning my next murder.

Well, I hope we got the right suspect this time.

Que up the 'Animal House' bit when Delta faced off against the fraternity counsel and Dean Wormer.

Otter: Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether we broke a few rules or took a few liberties with our female party guests -- we did. But you can't hold a whole fraternity responsible for the actions of a few sick, perverted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you ... isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do what you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America!

How can you have a name like HACK and not be a killer?

Six out of nine did not vote. It's certainly not my and Darth's fault that so few voted. Why does active genuine participation deserve your disdain Linwood?

Maybe you were innocent so you are bitter. Maybe you were guilty so you are bitter. Whatever. WHATEVER.

I think it's more than likely impossible to find the murderer(s). We can only try.The game requires us to vote 24 hours after a murder. So we voted. Maybe we got the killer, maybe we didn't.

Believe me, I am more than cognizant of the possible miscarriages of justice as a result of the clueword evidence. But it's that or just hanging for the sake of hanging, which I believe was your approach before you were hanged. I leave it to you to judge which approach has the most integrity, right or wrong.

So there. No hard feelings though.

I think that integrity holds less weight than results. So far, there have been lots of evidence presented, and lots of hanging and toasting, but as far as I can tell, both murderers are still on the loose. It appears that the analytical crowd has killed as many innocent people as the two murderers.

No hard feelings, though. Heaven's a nice place, and the BBQ can't be beat!

Well Linwood I can't argue with you there. My gut feeling is that unbelievably both murderers could very well still be out there. However, that means that the impassioned lynch mob did just as poor a job as the detectives. Honestly, I don't know that any of the evidence I presented were definitely murder posts. In that sea of basketball cluewords on a basketball forum, HELLO?....

Maybe it's a matter of taste. Would you rather be killed in a recreational gang drive-by or be wrongfully accused and dispatched with a lethal injection? Grim choice.

I'm glad your paperwork went through, you're in good company and especially that the BarBQ is good up there. Tell me, can you see EVERYTHING ON EARTH from Heaven. Could you guys give a daily report on Pistons training camp when it starts?:):fingerscr

OK, Linwood. I'll try it your way. If you can't trust a zombie :skull:who can you trust?

Next round in the current game (if there is one) or first round in the next game (if there is one) I plan to ignore all evidence and just go for whomever I feel like hanging. (Assuming I'm not murdered, of course).:wedgie:

think about this.

the first murder game didn't get many participants because it was new/bugs ironed out, etc.
this time it did, however my feeling is slippy would still have nominated at least 1 person to be murderer he could count on to turn up regularly, know the rules and would continue to murder people and not disappear for days on end which would ruin the game. in that sense, selecting someone he wasn't sure would do the above (ie. warthog) just doesn't make sense. the game wouldn't have worked.

the way i see it, too many people have been hanged that i would say aren't big posters or not day-to-day regulars. ok, so we all signed up for the game, but some people have barely participated. using the logic above, that doesn't make sense.

so for instance, darth, my reasoning, or lack thereof for nominating you in the past round was for this very reason. nothing personal. you were someone who would fit into the description above, would keep the game going and make it a success.

thats why i think the murderer/s are still on the loose.

I like that logic. It makes perfect sense and in fact, I'd think that way too. It's why I was able to nab The Low from jump in the first game. Only problem is...I'm Innocent.

But hell, I'd hang me too with that line of thinking. Naturally, I'm going to put up a fight if someone tries to hang me. I think everyone does

I'm not taking anything personally, and I SINCERELY hope nobody else does either. Anything I've done or said is purely in the spirit of the game and in an effort to make it more fun for everyone (myself included).

I find myself getting mad :mad2:at the murderer...and then I think.."Hey wait, Slippy chose this cat and they are just doing what they have to do...and a damned good job at that:frusty:".

That being said, when we catch him/them (if we haven't already) I think we should make him read and memorize 100 Lee lineup cards before cooking him. I also think we should pour the food seasoning in his open wounds before cooking him because he is making us feel incompetent!!!!!!! :pound:

I'm thinking maybe we finally got him though. The living detectives are redeemed and the zombies can finally :rip:

I'd be interested in hearing a recap from slippy's perspective and from the murderers.
