How many games of frustration before the Lions name a new starter?

I'm saying six.

He hasn't looked very good so far in this game. He's had a fumble and a bad looking INT and he's not very mobile in the pocket.

But I think they'll stick with him longer than six game. Martz seems to really like him for some reason.

Kitna might be here for a while if Furrey and Roy keep making catches like they have been in this game!

Furrey - 6 catches, 46 yards and 2 TD's
Williams - 6 catches, 103 yards

Just added Furrey to my fantasy roster.

Dlev I got to see them here in California for the first time this season on my East Coast Fox feed. Next time I see them will be Thanksgiving, They should be at least 2-8 by then as Kitna's receivers are starting to catch his passes. :)

The problem is our defense can't catch any passes as they have yet to grab an interception this season and Bly, Shepard, etal, looked bad out there today. :(

Our defensive line can't get the the QB, our linebackers are undersized and they can't play the pass or tackle, our secondary can't catch and gives too much cushion.

We just can't seem to get both sides of the ball playing well at the same time. Our D is usually pretty decent but our offence can't do anything. This time it was the other way around.

Oh well... just another typical Sunday for a Lions fan.

Stay the course with Kitna this year. Get everyone comfortable in the system. See if McCown can win the job next camp.

I think Kitna has been great. He's so much calmer and more relaxed than Joey. That alone has been a big improvement.

I agree Jammer.

A good way to cover for a not so good secondary is to pressure the quarterback, which the Lions can`t seem to do. Maybe blitz the corner or both safeties from time to time, they can`t stop the pass, so try and rush the passer.

I totally agree with you. Kitna is going his job. Atleast we are moving the ball and putting points on the board. The problem now is still the stupid penalities and the defense just blows. What the heck is wrong with Fernando Bryant?? The guy has missed like 3 games because of family issues. What is up with that? The average guy can't miss work like that because of so called family issues. It is 2 or 3 days and back to work if you are lucky to even get that long.

Oh.. ... Kitna will last until week 10 before he gets a season ending injury with that poor offensive line. That shot he took to the back of the knee was wicked.

They're being very quite about it, but apparently it was a sudden immediate (or very close) family illness. The person ended up passing away.

At least that's what they said during the Packers game. Like I said, they aren't saying much about it though.

kitna should last the whole season if he's healthy. he's been playing well overall.

Kitna has had 3 very good weeks in a row. Probably the best 3 consecutive weeks a Lion's quarterback has had since... Erik Kramer maybe? I'll have my assistant try to dig up the answer.

OK, that will be very difficult to figure out.

But here is where our man stands through 4 weeks:

#1 in completed passes with 98!!!!
#3 in total passing yards behind McNabb and Manning (Brees is #4)

Martz is just getting warmed up.

I laughed at a guy in my pool when he picked him.:tinfoil3:

My guys are 1-3. He is 2-2.

We can score against weak D's.
Wait until we play another solid team.
Any good corners in the draft?

TaShawn
10-04-2006, 04:49 PM
That is much better than not being able to score against anyone.

We didn't score on the Seahawks, yet the Bears scored 37 against them. Do they have a strong D? Maybe the Lions were just getting used to the new scheme.

Now you see the diff. between solid teams, average and below average. Hawks O is average. Bears O is good. Lion O was below average then.

After today, Kitna reminds me a lot of Drew Stanton...and that ain't a compliment.

This a little off topic but I just had to get it off my chest. This is what I sent to the Lions today...

Coach...as an expatriate Detroiter and former football player, it is gut-wrenching to watch our players getting shoved around. You well know that the least aggressive player is the one that gets hurt. Today demonstrated that only too well.

It is not only the players that seemed less aggressive but the schemes as well. Our secondary played way off their receivers and made it easy for them. Both lines were getting pushed back all day long. K.J. ran soft...never hitting the line with aggression.

I know some of that is due to the learning curve...players are a micro-second slow when the play has not been engrained in them. But, I see very little tough tackling. I see no deep throws, which keep the opposition from cheating. I see very little blitzing. Maybe you just have the wrong players. Which means this will be a long re-building process.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you can bring out some toughness and aggression in these guys. Don't let them fall into shame and lack of confidence. Just get them pissed off enough to push somebody around and for God's sake cover up those weaknesses in the Cover Two...its killing us.

congo, last time I wrote the Lions, they were 2-4 and that was in 1995. We all know how that season turned out. Hope your letter goes just as well.

OK, I didn't get to watch the game, but it looks like it can be summarized like this:

Kevin Jones- 10 carries for 8 yards and a concussion.
Roy Williams- back stinger
Kitna- a couple of bone-headed plays to gift wrap the win for Minny.

Looks like we are gunning for the #1 draft pick.

With both Jones and William both getting banged up, is the question how long will Kitna last as the starting QB, or long will he last before the offensive line allows the opposing line mangle his body too!!:crutch:
