Nashville for real?

I'm not sure I could handle a Nashville / Buffalo Stanley Cup Finals.

Buffalo is a fun team to watch. I haven't seen much of Nashville.

Anaheim, San Jose, Dallas, Detroit and Nashville all look good from the West.

Atlanta and Buffalo are the class of the East right now with a bunch of other teams that could make some noise if they can get in the playoffs.

Man, what a great game between the Canadiens and Penguins tonight. It had a bit of everything! Great passes, nice goals, hard hits, end to end plays, awesome saves, plenty of scoring, OT and a shootout. What more can you ask for? (Well, maybe 2 more shootout goals from the Habs would have been nice.)

THAT is what hockey is all about. The commentators said that the league should package this game up and send it out to the entire world to market the game.

Yeah, Crosby 3 assists on the power play. Pretty neat.

Hey, Peter Forsberg is on the block. As Kris Draper said on the radio this morning, when Forsberg is healthy, he's one of the best forwards in the game.

I wonder who will make a move for him?

Per the L.A. Times:

"
The Anaheim Ducks (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/ana/) are one of several teams that have contacted the Philadelphia Flyers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/phi/) to express interest should the Flyers – and Forsberg, who has a no trade clause – decide to deal.
Even though Forsberg is struggling with health issues, the San Jose Sharks (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/san/), Nashville Predators (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/nas/), Montreal Canadiens (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/mon/), Detroit Red Wings (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/det/) and Atlanta Thrashers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/atl/) are also believed to be interested"

The Nashville Predators have won the Peter Forsberg (http://www.forecaster.ca/sportsplus/hockey/player.cgi?0816) sweepstakes. The intense trade winds surrounding the veteran centreman were abutted on Thursday, when Forsberg was dealt prior to the Flyers' game against the Toronto Maple Leafs for promising youngsters Scottie Upshall (http://slambios.canoe.ca/sportsplus/hockey/player.cgi?2652), Ryan Parent (http://www.forecaster.ca/sportsplus/hockey/player.cgi?4988) and a first- and a third-round draft pick.

DAG NABIT!

Double Dag Nabit!

Not only did we miss him, but our current arch rival gets him.

But the real question is:

(is dag nabit one word or two)?

I just caught the highlights from tonights Sens/Sabres game. Wow, what a game.

Drury got blindsided by Chris Neil and it sparked an all out brawl. All 12 players on the ice got into it for 5 minutes, including the goalies who squared off against each other. Then, once he was done man handling Biron, Sens goalie Ray Emery took on Buffalo tough guy Andrew Peters... and was LAUGHING! I've seen goalies fight before, but I've NEVER seen the goalie fight another goalie and THEN a position player, let alone a tough guy.

Had the coaches not been seperated by 2 plexiglass walls, they'd have been in there as well.

Great stuff Jammer. Thanks for sharing.

Despite my best efforts, my computer wouldn't let me watch the entire tape, but I got to the part where Emery takes off his mask.

Drury was definitely blindsided. What was funny was that Ottawa put Heatley, Spezza and Comrie on the ice, but Buffalo countered with their goon squad. Buffalo was obviously out for blood before the face off, and they were doing everything they could to start a rhubarb.

Bad news for your fantasy team though. Drury may be out for a bit.

A minor trade:
The Carolina Hurricanes acquired right wing Anson Carter from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday for a 2008 draft pick, giving the defending Stanley Cup champions a scoring threat to replace a pair of injured forwards.

I drafted him :nerd2: and he was cut almost as quickly as Tom Poti.

He's not a fantasy player. He's the kind of guy who can help a team in the playoffs when the premium is on defense and physicality.

Here's a better, longer link from YouTube.

YouTube - Senators Sabres brawl 2/22/07 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEorm9c0c7w&mode=related&search=)

Buffalo was the home team, so they had last line change. Murray should have called a timeout when he saw Ruff send out 3 goons against his top line.

Emery looks like he can take care of himself pretty good, but a positional player shouldn't be allowed to go after a goalie. A Sen player should have put a stop to that. Too bad it was Spezza and Heatley out there.

The funniest part is that former tough guy Rob Ray is right in the middle of it, doing colour commentary between the benches while 2 coaches go at it!

The rematch game is currently in progress. Already 2 fighting majors in the game tonight, with the Senators winning 4-2 in the 2nd period. Also, a great Wings and Predators game is going on right now (2-1 Detroit in 2nd period)

The Wings have traded forward Jason Williams to the Blackhawks in a three-way deal and acquired forward Kyle Calder from the Flyers.
Chicago will send defenseman Lasse Kukkonen to Philadelphia.

The Detroit Red Wings acquired Todd Bertuzzi from Florida just before Tuesday's NHL trading deadline, adding the tough forward they wanted for the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Panthers acquired forward Shawn Matthias and up to two conditional draft picks in the deal. If Bertuzzi signs with Detroit when he becomes a free agent after the season, the Red Wings will part with one pick this year and another next year.

The Penguins were big winners today as well, adding veteran winger Gary Roberts and bruiser George Laraque to help protect Sid the Kid.

The deadline has passed, but there are still a few trades that need to go through (including apparently Ryan Smyth to the Islanders). Here's the list as of just after 1pm.

You mean can Lang resist the temptation to goon.
Bertuzzi brings good ole fashioned hockey back to Detroit.
Is this a classy move?:yellowprison:
