Thank God! Its about time this guy gets some recognition. He's been completely black listed by the media and the NBA for years. You'd think he slept with Stern's mom or something.

(*The preceding post was dipped in a large vat of sarcasm. Prolonged exposure to sarcasm can lead to vomiting, diarreah, chronic fatigue and bed wetting. Ask your doctor if sarcasm is right for you. Do not take sarcasm if you're pregnant or nursing.*)

S.I.'s downward trend continues. I wonder who the other finalists were.

I believe this role has him up for an Oscar.

He would be the first person in HISTORY to win an Oscar AND be named SI Sportsman of the Year (I just vomited in my mouth when I typed that). Let alone in the same year.

I heard he had a special Flak Jacket Tux made up for the occasion. Just incase someone tries to congratulate him too hard.

What story?

It's here (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/magazine/12/05/sportsman1211/index.html). Definitely a good read.

Excellent story. I still hate watching free throws, but I do have more respect for Mr. Wade now.

On a side note, in the picture of him when he is nine years old, I think his hands are bigger than mine as an adult!

An excellent read indeed.

It`s good to know that athletes with extraordinary talent have hardships and struggles just like anyone else.

There are so many young people out here with dreams of being athletes, doctors, lawyers etc....that are experiencing problems not unlike D-Wade`s or Gilbert Arenas.

Those problems can be overcome is good news to all who are discouraged in reaching their goals/dreams.

I always knew Wade was a good guy, but Go Pistons....

Anyhow....

Wouldn't it be great if one day the Pistons had a chance to pick up a young player like Wade, or like that guy in Denver who just took over the scoring lead from Iverson?
