MICHAEL ROSENBERG: A mouth that roars (http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061226/COL22/612260386/1049/SPORTS01)
Matt Millen is a wonderful talker. As a sportscaster, he talked his way into being the Lions' president. He is as engaging and personable as anybody I've ever met in sports.

This week, we can safely presume Millen is chatting up William Clay Ford Sr. After all, Millen has said he won't quit. He might try to talk the Lions' owner out of firing him.

After an astounding 72 losses in six years, should Ford really consider anything Millen has said?

Sure, why not?

It won't be hard for Millen to keep his job. He will say what WCF wants to hear. He will say that the team has had a lot of injuries this year. Also that the new coaching staff brought in a new defensive and offensive system and they need another year to see more improvement. He will point out how the offense puts up more more points than last year and more yards passing. Millen will then grasp for straws and point to San Fransico that had a bad year last year under a new coach and this year they are a .500 team.

To me it would not matter what Matt Millen said. He would have been fired after he fired Mooch.
