His wife is all kinds of hot, but apparently also a bit...um...crazy (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/B/BKN_KIDD_MARITAL_COMPLAINT?SITE=MIDTN&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT):
New Jersey Nets (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=njn) star Jason Kidd (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=2625) filed for divorce from his wife of 10 years Tuesday, accusing her of "extreme cruelty" throughout their marriage.
In the dissolution papers, filed in state Superior Court in Bergen County, Kidd accuses Joumana Kidd of physically and mentally abusing him, threatening to make false domestic violence complaints against him to police and of interfering with his relationship with his children.
"The defendant's extreme and unwarranted jealousy and rage has left the plaintiff concerned about her emotional stability," the papers say.
The divorce filing came less than a day after the 33-year-old NBA player filed a domestic violence complaint seeking a temporary restraining order against his wife.
"Jason Kidd filed for divorce from his wife today on the grounds of extreme cruelty over a long period of time," Kidd's attorney, Madeline Marzano-Lesnevich, said in a statement Tuesday. "As this is an extremely difficult personal matter, I ask that the privacy of the Kidd family be respected."
The complaint, however, attempts to paint a detailed portrait of Joumana Kidd as a vitriolic, jealous and paranoid wife prone to public outbursts and threats, including during a recent Nets game.
According to the complaint, Joumana Kidd used the couple's 8-year-old son on Dec. 27 to sneak into the Nets locker room and rummage through Jason Kidd's locker to find his cell phone. After looking up the names and numbers on it, the complaint said she left her son to behind as she went upstairs to take a front row seat, where she shouted insults at Kidd throughout the game.
The papers accuse Joumana Kidd of kicking, hitting, punching and throwing household objects at her husband as she became "increasingly controlling and manipulative" in the last few years of their union.
According to Kidd, his wife had tracking devices installed on his cars and computers and has harassed his trainer, friends and family.
Yikes! Though he's not exactly an angel himself; he pleaded guilty to spousal abuse a few years back, as the article mentions. Sounds like that was a rough household to live in. :starwars:

I do remember this comment from the articles (http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2001/0118/1025500.html) at the time he ended up pleading guilty to hitting her:
In the 911 call, Joumana Kidd said she didn't need medical attention.
"Don't worry about me," she said. "This is minor compared to what I usually go through."
Seems like they've both got...issues. Although that's the last I remember hearing about anything like that coming from him; she appears to be the one who's gone off the deep end at this point.

First the Jordans and now the Kidds....
So she was jealous of his late night hangin out with the fellas huh? She is a beautiful woman and I wouldn't give her up, but if she is sneaking around his back and checking up on him and abusing the kidds, then I guess it is time to let her go. To much drama there.
I know he dated Gabrielle Union in high school and fought with Jim Jackson over Toni Braxton in the 90's but Joumana shouldn't have to worry about them anymore.
I also heard on the radio today that MJ didn't have a prenup and his wife is seeking between $100-200 million >ouch
I know Doug Christie probably needs a divorce, but his wife won't let him...:yellowprison: :)

I remember some article about the Toni Braxton thing where the writer said, "what, she couldn't find enough knuckleheads in the music business?"

Whoa, ouch is right. Although there was also the news last year about how Paul McCartney didn't have a prenup with his second wife, when they were about to get divorced. And he's one of the few people in the world who could make MJ look poor!
I know Doug Christie probably needs a divorce, but his wife won't let him...:yellowprison: :)
Well, every thread that mentions any NBA wives eventually has to return to the ball-less one, doesn't it? :pound:

ESPN.com - NBA - Joumana Kidd's attorney calls abuse claim 'absurd' (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2726826)
My favorite line is from Joumana's attorney: "He's going to have to deal with the real court and not the basketball court."
Very catchy. NOT. Those crazy liars -- er, lawyers. :pound:

I hope MJ's wife takes him to the cleaners. He cheated on her.
Not sure why these NBA ballers bother getting married.

Plenty of guys in the league are happily married, though it's gotta be tough on the family for anyone who has to travel as much as they have to. Not that multi-millionaires playing a game for a living deserve much sympathy, but being away from home that much has to be difficult for anyone trying to make things work in a relationship.
Of course, one can also go the Shawn Kemp route when it comes to...er...procreating.

Actually, I should have said, "Not sure why they get married so early in their careers." If I could play the field through my 20s, I would. Actually, if I had been better looking and more athletic in my 20s, I could have played the field successfully. But, hey, I had my health.

You can count on the NY Post to provide some amusing coverage in situations like this. This article (http://www.nypost.com/seven/01112007/news/regionalnews/life_of_bad_bounces_for_kidds_hoop_dream_girl_regi onalnews_todd_venezia______and_jeane_macintosh.htm ?page=1) about Joumana doesn't exactly mince words:
In 1992, she met the 19-year-old Jason Kidd, a phenom basketball player at Berkeley. But she told Sports Illustrated she wasn't impressed at first with the idea of an athlete beau.
"I didn't want a husband who sleeps around, who thinks the world revolves around him, who's dumb, has no education - all the stereotypes in one," she said.
It wasn't until 1996 - after he had signed a nine-year, $60 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks - that she relented.I remember that SI article, but I'm not sure it put forward that particular...um...perspective on where that huge NBA payday fit into the big picture. Of course, having been the #2 pick in the draft, he wasn't exactly scraping by to begin with, in his first couple of years in the league.
This part is pretty funny, with my own emphasis added:
On their first date, he talked of having kids and a family. On their second, he took her to see the chick flick, "How to Make an American Quilt." He even appeared interested in it.
"I ate it up like candy," she told SI in the 2002 interview. The article also mentions his son from a previous relationship, which I had forgotten about. This other article (http://www.nypost.com/seven/01122007/news/regionalnews/love_child_ma_gives_star_assist_regionalnews_maria nne_love_in_l_a____todd_venezia_in_n_y_.htm) talks about that, including the fact that this other son is almost never mentioned in all the articles about Kidd. But apparently his mom says that things have worked out OK for them.

I heard that Joumana has threatened to ruin Jason Kidd and the Nets organization. Apparently she has tons of dirt on Jason and is going to do a tell it all exclusive. Apparently Joumana also has dirt on his teammates as well. Rumor has it that she will out a gay Nets player as well as dish other dirt she has on them.
Personally I think Joumana should just take her millions and go away. Why bring the Nets organization and other players into the mix. I hope she wises up and realizes that she is only going to be hurting herself and her kids by stooping to Kidd's level.

Jason Kidd is going to turn this relationship around three hundred and sixty degrees.
