Today at 6:30AM, pistonsforum.com server began experiencing some issues. After rebooting the server at 7:30 and again at 7:55 AM, we are now back online but experiencing intermittent network issues.

I am monitoring the situation, and ask that if you notice any forum performance issues, please PM (http://www.pistonsforum.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=1) me.

Thanks.

Downtime scheduled for an hour tomorrow (Sunday January 28th 2007) between 8 and 10:00 AM.

Wait a second, you can't fool me. That's 2 hours! hahaha

I'll let you off with a warning this time. It's just a good thing I'm not up that early on a Sunday.

It is contingent upon how quickly I can down 2 Ex-Large Tims coffees and a bagel. We also need to allow for temporal displacement should I sleep in. :)

Did something change in the last round of updates such that the Unread Post counter in the gray box upper right no longer includes unread posts in forums you've blocked?

Cool.

That system is driven by a third party piece of software which was upgraded. I had not realized the additional benefit. Thanks for pointing it out.

Oh, cool, I was hoping that would get updated at some point. I guess it happened at the same time that it changed from "0" unread posts to "No" unread posts (yes, I actually noticed that). :nerd:

Stage 2 maintenance is complete. Thank you again for your patience.

Rolling up to what has been completed...

Stage 1
Upgrade all sub-systems to latest versions.
Install security patch.Stage 2
Upgrade forum software to latest version.
Install anti-spam throttle
Prominent thread preview available to unregistered members, logged out members.Stage 2 Notes
All members should click RELOAD/REFRESH in their browsers on any PF.com page. This will ensure that your browser cache is updated to our latest files.

The thread preview will make no difference to how members view pages. If you would like to see it anyway, feel free to logout and browse the forum. You will see the yellow/gold info boxes at the top of threads and forums.

Internet Explorer 7 users will see a difference in the link (image, email and URL) posting system. This is to address a boneheaded move by Microsoft to issue security warnings in the browser needlessly. At this time, the changes are not pretty to the eye, but will be addressed during offseason maintenance.

Our anti-spam throttle now requires 2 successful posts before a member can post an URL. While inconvenient to some, it will reduce the frequency of spam significantly. This was a case of the lesser of two evils.

Stage 3 (Final) maintenance for this season is tentatively scheduled for Saturday March 24th in the AM hours. No downtime is expected. This final stage of maintenance will update our chat system and feature some minor settings updates for the playoffs.

Feel free to report any bugs/issues to this thread.

And oddly, it seems to have changed back again. Posts in hidden forums are counting as unread again. Could have been a random cosmic ray hit on a vital magnetic bubble.

I will try to catch this in the next update.

A half hour of downtime is scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday, April 15th) in the AM.

I anticipate that the downtime will be between 10:00 and 11:00 EDT and should last no longer than 45 mins.

This upgrade is to fix some forum issues and to add minor improvements to our site.

Thanks in advance for your patience. If you have any questions, feel free to reply to this thread.

4/15 Maintenance is complete.

I would like to advise everyone to click RELOAD or REFRESH on their browser while viewing pistonsforum.com. Windows users can also press CTRL + F5 at the same time. This will guarantee your web browser is pulling the latest files from the forum. It only needs to be done once after each maintenance.

If you notice any issues or errors, please report them here.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Seeing as how the Eastern Conference Finals are not quite ready to begin, I am going to sneak a maintenance downtime in this weekend.

Expect the forums to be offline for 1.5 to 2 hours between 9am and noon EDT (GMT-5) tomorrow, Saturday May 19th 2007.

This is strictly routine maintenance, no functionality will change.

Thanks in advance for you patience.

Thanks in advance for you patience.

Is it done yet?

If not, what percentage of this months membership fees will be refunded? This stuff is getting old Roscoe!

Is there any way you could just get up at like...3:00 A.M. and do it then?

My accountant (http://www.pistonsforum.com/members/3.html) will get back to you.

Uhm, no. The server does automated maintenance until 6:00 AM, and I usually start early doing stuff that won't require forum closure, typically at 7:00 AM. The 3 hour window is just to cover my butt if something goes horribly wrong. 2 hours or less is expected.
