Apparently, Pippen's in good shape and looking for 15 minutes a game.
Maybe we could sign him and the Pistons would inch closer to qualifying for AARP insurance discounts.

I think he'll only sign with Detroit if Laimbeer is signed as head coach. :pound:

We should sign Kucoc, Pippen and Kemp for this Championship run!

This is such a joke. What is Pip going to play, 5~8 minutes a game?
He'd be perfect for the Spurs. He'd probably fill a void for the Heat (i.e., the keeping Antoine Walker off the court void), especially if Riley's dumb enough to trade Posey. The Lakers need help at the 2, 3, and 4. Houston's thin and injury-prone enough that he could get minutes. It would be kind of funny if he landed in Utah.
Detroit? He can rebound, he can pass, maybe he can still play from the post, and maybe he can still play defense, but he could never shoot.

That is so sad. He must really need some money. Any amount of money!

Come back for what ? What does he wanna to prove ? Wondering whether he's in kind of financial trouble.

His financial troubles are well documented. The guy who handled his career supposedly ripped him off on bad investments.
Latest lawsuit forces Pippen's financial guru into bankruptcy Chicago Sun-Times - Find Articles (http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4155/is_20050212/ai_n9729170)

Scottie needs cash. So he tries to latch on with a contender. Nice!! Stern should put a stop to this. Next thing you know you will have 50 year old guy's coming out of retirement.
He should just stick to his broadcasting gig. I am quite sure he makes 100K plus a year doing that. Live like the rest of us Scottie. Sale your million dollar home and your cars and live like a normal middle class person.:nerd2:

So Stern is a better judge of talent than the GMs who run the teams?

No, I am not saying that. I just don't think it is fair that guy's can sit on there couch for half the season and then hand pick a team they want to play for. It would be different if a team has an injury and need to pick up another player.
If these guy's want to play they should have to clear waviers and the teams with the worst record should have first shot.

Does that apply to all free agents, or just those who haven't played in the NBA for a specific amount of time? Undrafted players in non-American leagues like Udonis Haslem and Andrés Nocioni?
It's an interesting idea from a armchair-GM/fantasy basketball standpoint where the only goal is to improve the competitiveness of the product, but I'm sure the players' union would block it. The rights of the players have been steadily slashed over the latter half of Stern's tenure, but this goes to their fundamental rights as employees.

I might see a clause like that to prevent a guy from "retiring" from one team so he can join another soon after, but Pippen's been out of the game three years. He should be free to go anywhere they'll take him.

I am only talking about players that have retired trying to join a team mid-season. If you want to make a come back that's fine. Chose any team you like and join them at the begining of the season. There are already rules on the books in the NBA that state that if a player is cut from another team at after a certain point in the season and picked up by another team that he is not playoff eligable. So how is this any different? It is a lop hole that needs to be closed.
