Man Darth, your team is on fire hitting lights out. An average of .347 this week and you swept all the hitting categories. My pitching is the only thing that kept the score from an absolute blowout.

Yeah, I'm having a really nice week. Your guys are playing well too, but you caught me at a bad time. Last week I couldn't hit worth crap against Woody.
Good to see you talking in here Bezeach. You're usually real quiet.:)
Impressions on the league:
Gazoo- Your current lineup looks like all the guys I drafted and dumped! :pound: Well, I got your Burrell and you ended up with Damon even though we didn't trade so I guess it's even.
Roscoe- Why isn't Roscoe in last where he always ends up? Well, just wait until he makes one of his famous trades to put him there! :nerd2: I just hope I am the recipient of the deal.
Laimbeer & Baseballers- Great match up next week.:fight2: I'll go with Jr.
Jammer- Lots of moves lately. Watch this guy. He's sneaky. His team will lay in the weeds and cause trouble in the playoffs.
Bezeach- Has he made any moves this season? Same as hockey. Quiet and solid.
Woody-I wish his team was doing better. He's too quiet. Come on Woody. Talk some stuff!
Winless- He maybe saved my season by using the first draft pick on Ryan Howard and making me use my 2nd overall on Chase Utley instead. I still want Hamels. He will figure a way to improve his team.
Webz- You've got Victorino & Myers. They wanna be on Darth's Phillies and I won't rest until they are. He'll be there.
Darth- The eventual champion. You guys already know it. :stirthepot:
Just make the playoffs guys. I think any of the 6 teams that get in will have a shot. Week to week in baseball it looks like anyone can win (Just look at Micros sorry squad hammering Laimbeer's offspring).

It's hard to talk smack when you are crying!
St. Louis and the Yankees are in last, and Milwaukee is in first. That's how screwed up things are.
I picked Mariano Rivera and he absolutely sucks. And the Yankees are never ahead anyway.
Delgado and Rolen are both hitting .200 or worse. And my outfield of Bonds, Griffey and Sosa is just a pleasant memory. They're too old and so am I.
I've decided to start dumping people and looking for young, undeveloped talent. I figure that by November I'll have this all figured out.
Can I get St. Louis from Tampa Bay?? :pound:

We both built our hockey teams from nothing and knowing nothing, Woody. I think that's a great plan. I think I did better letting the computer draft for me, but I still had to dump lots of guys.
No, you CANNOT have St. Louis. :pound: And don't even think about getting him in hockey either.

No problem. I didn't think anything of it. Every league I've been in before there's been a waiting period for each trade before it goes through.
Besides, both of the players I'm getting are on the DL, so no hurry at all! Take the next 4 weeks if you need it.

I think the trade went up Saturday. So the default is two days (Sunday & Monday). So it would go through Tuesday early in the morning & in normal leagues place guys on the roster for wednesday. But since our league is weekly, they can't do anything until the following Monday.
That's my guess anyhow.

Here's a list of the guys I'm willing to move to get one:
Jim Thome
Vernon Wells
Alex Rios
Eric Byrnes
Ryan Freel
Bengie Molina
Matt Cain
Gil Meche
A.J. Burnett
Boof Bonser
Depending on the closer and the player(s) desired, I'd consider a 2-for-1 deal.
Let's make a deal.

I'M HAVING A LOT MORE FUN NOW!!
I've got a little plan!!
Darth and the two Laimbeers have the best teams. So, everytime they drop someone (and Tater does that with great regularity), I pick them up!!
By mid-June, I should have Taters entire first place team as he will be playing with a different deck by then!!:pound::pound:
Since my whole team sucks, I don't have any problem watching the waiver wire for all your cast-offs. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Out of curiousity, I looked up the playoff format. There is a consolation bracket for the lower teams, too, so guys like Gazoo and Woody will still be able to participate in the playoffs...
All Head-to-Head Leagues must participate in fantasy playoffs beginning on Monday, September 3. The playoff systems will be the same for all Public and Custom Leagues, and will follow the structure detailed below.
Championship Bracket:
Week One
Bye: First Place and Second Place
P1: Third Place vs. Sixth Place
P2: Fourth Place vs. Fifth Place
Week Two
P3: First Place vs. Winner of P2
P4: Second Place vs. Winner of P1
Fifth Place Game: Loser of P1 vs. Loser of P2
Week Three
Championship Game: Winner of P3 vs. Winner of P4
Third Place Game: Loser of P3 vs. Loser of P4

Okay, so his stats weren't over-powering. You should have seem him in warm-ups, though. The ball was coming out of his hand so smoothly and effortlessly. I just thought I would share a sleeper with you guys. Just trying to be nice...

I can't believe nobody has picked Robertson up yet. I want to do it so bad, but I feel like since I'm in first place it would be taking advantage of your generosity.
Still... I think Roscoe should dedicate a humanitarian section in the Hall of Fame to you and call it " Selfless Bill's honorary Hall" to pay tribute to your self sacrifice for the good of the league.

Hadn't noticed. Been too busy rearranging my sock drawer and closet this week. I decided, after great deliberation, to move my long-sleeved shirts from one end of the closet to the other. I also moved my dark-colored socks into a different drawer from my white-colored socks. These are decisions I will have to live with and I hope I can.

We are one week away from the halfway point. The season is flying by.
Idle thoughts:
1. Good game Gazoo. You saddled me with my 2nd loss of the season. You beat me 6-5 despite my getting 72 hits, batting .343, accumulating 6 saves and 62 strikeouts. Still, my two closest rivals got hammered even worse than I did, so I actually gained ground.
2. Watch out for Jammer the rest of the way. He reminds me of my basketball team which had some great totals, but was stuck in 5th place for the first half of the year. (I eventually won it all). Jammer has great totals for the year in pitching and hitting. I know Bezeach blew him out this week but watch out. Jammer needs a reliever.
3. Bezeach also has great hitting totals but needs some pitching according to the numbers in the totals section. How does the guy stay competitive without any roster moves? (He did the same thing in hockey).
4. Roscoe gets the upset over Laimbs. True to his word, his team picked up when the Pistons season ended (but it was coincidence).
5. Woody is going to pass me...in roster moves, that is.:pound:
6. There is a log jam near 2nd place. Looks like about 3 games separates 2nd place from 6th. Should be exciting.

When you're 30 games below .500, a 6-5 win doesn't do much good. Small (very small) moral victory.
Laid the smackdown on Laimbs Jr this week. Again...
Hope he is not feeling too disappointed Laimbs Snr.
I'm liking my pitching crew.
And then A-Rod is pretty much carrying my batters. Anyone want Konerko? I haven't used him at all so far. He is starting to hit some now, but I just don't have room on my roster with Morneau at the 1B. I drafted him because he was the best player on the table at the time and figured to trade him later.
Anyone? Anyone???

Here was my reply:
Hi Jammer,
You sound...I dunno...a bit hostile. Are you upset because your team is barely above Woody's in the standings? Is there some way I can help you to improve? Might I suggest dumping all of your Toronto players? I mean, you can always change your mind...it's not like anyone will want them. By the end of the week I will be on top.

Hey Darth, it looks like congratulations will soon be in order. Your Phillies are just 8 losses away from 10,000.
For the record, that is more than ANY team in ANY sport EVER.

I don't know if I have posted this already, but a friend explained to me last year that you can't really judge a baseball week until the Friday stats are posted. No Wednesday or Thursday lead is safe.
I've found this generally to be quite true.
I was thinking the same thing. Other Fantasy sports aren't really like that. With baseball, for some reason, things go topsy turvy in a heartbeat.

Hey guys, I know there is a trade pending. If i put it through right now, it will alter Sunday lineups.
So I will be putting it through tomorrow for sure. Please be sure to check your lineups for Monday once the trade is put through. You might have to tweak your lineups a little.
Thanks for understanding.

PS - I'm currently trying to do a deal with Bill jr but he is being a tough cookie about it.
I want Guthrie and Abreu (who is sucking) for Perez and Kinsler. (He needs a 2B) Tell him its a fair deal. It is really!
I think when my son saw that Ian Kinsler was on crutches, he had second thoughts. Nice try, though. :pound:

Hey, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. I root against him all the time so you'll trade him to me, lol. (Actually, once again, I don't have room for him).
I'm having relief problems. Neither Jammer nor I got a single save last week. I'm hoping Tom Gordon comes back soon to reclaim his job from Myers.
I'm due for an off week. I have one every 3 to 4 weeks and it's been 3 or 4 since the last one. I'd rather have it against you than suffer the humiliation of losing to Woody during the short all star break. I still can't believe he's the only team I haven't defeated (we tied in our only matchup).

Webz,
Let's see...
1. Accumulating injuries this week and recent DL additions are keeping my guys out of the lineup.
2. Phillies (essentially half of my team) off today.
3. Batters who actually play are doing well, but my pitching the last couple weeks has been terrible.
Dang, looks like I'll only WIN by a narrow margin if this keeps up.:pound::gun1:

Jammer,
That's why I love the Phililies. Back in 1972, when I was 13, I was a Tigers fan (still am), but there was this Phillies team that won only 59 games. Steve Carlton a southpaw won 27 of them!!! So I loved those loveable losers and adopted them as my team. They finally won a world series in the 80's with Larry Bowa, Pete Rose, Mike Shmidt, and a few others.
So the loser label doesn't bother me.
Actually, I do have a story to go with that, but I'll share it another time since it will just give you guys more ammunition to use on me. :sssh:

I was talking about the 5-6 loss Darth's Phillies suffered at the hands of Woody's last place scrubs! :rofl:Woody, you always save your best for me.
Not only that but Roscoe is back from the almost dead and is in the middle of the pack of playoff contenders with a whopping and convincing victory over Winless.
I mean...I suppose anything can happen.
Only a 16 1/2 game lead over the second place (flavor)team of the week for me.
7 weeks to go.
Looks like a first place bye is imminent for Darth's Phillies (Good thing I'm done with Woody).
Didn't the Washington Generals lose that many to the Harlem Globetrotters....

Just be thankful you were playing woody. if you were playing roscoe or I you would have lost 9-1. roscoe is the man on the move though. 10-0 is impressive.

You weren't in our hockey league.
Roscoe's team was not too good the first three or so months and then for like two months straight he was absolutely destroying everyone in his path. I think he took over first place or was close.
Then, a couple weeks before the playoffs he went back to his old mediocre habits. Sound familiar? Yep. He'll fizzle out again in baseball. No worries.:gun1:

I checked stat tracker after the games last night and
:jaw: I was shocked to see ROSCOE in 2nd :second:place.
I checked with the stat tracker people:mod: to see if the system was broken and they said they had already checked it. They said they are familiar with Roscoe's account history and also figured the system must be totally messed up, but unfortunately the system is correct.
Bill, I can understand him beating up on your dogs, but now he has passed your little kid and you as well! I would imagine you didn't go to work today. You must be very embarrassed by the whole matter.
I'm hoping nobody draws attention to this:attention and after a couple of games this morning you can pass him again. Let's try to keep it on the QT :sssh:and maybe nobody else will notice.

Its incredibly close between 2nd-7th, so if you have a good week (or a bad one) your position will change quite a bit. But the week isn't over yet so wait till the dust settles my friend.

The front-runner has a combined 22-21 record vs. Gazoo's Steroid Users and Woody's Wonders. That stinks.
I expect to pick up my 100 L this week. But that isn't nearly as bad as the Phillies picking up their 10,000th loss in franchise history recently. Freakin' pathetic. I guess that's what you get for putting your faith in Gene Mauch and Mitch Williams.
From wikipedia: Mauch came tantalizingly close to the World Series (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Series) in 1964. His Phillies had a record of 90-60, a 6½ game lead in the National League (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_League) with 12 games left to play, and were starting a 7-game home stand. Mauch decided to start his two pitching aces, Jim Bunning (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Bunning) and Chris Short (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Short), in 7 of the last 10 games, 6 of those starts on 2 days rest (all of which they lost). The Phillies faded, losing 10 games in a row before winning their last 2 games) to finish one game behind the St. Louis Cardinals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis_Cardinals) in a collapse infamously known as the "Phold."

Yep. That's too true Gazooster. I noticed that. But even so, my overall record of 102-54 against everyone in the league is Phantastic!:ner-ner:
It's a good thing I won't have to worry about seeing you and Woodrowski in the playoffs...unless I look up into the spectator stands! :pound::stirthepot:

You can't keep Tater sharp gazoo, no matter how formidable your skills.
He's duller than an Idaho Potato and his smack is more like a pat on the bum.
I hope you and Woody are able to rise in the rankings, because I plan to send the DT Philly Wannabees to the basement post haste.

Roscoe,
I know you are really excited and pumped that not only did you thoroughly dominate Bill Laimbeer's puppys, but that now you are crushing his 13 year old son 9-1 in our pf league...
However, I'm not going worry about your team until they get within 20 games of my boys. I mean, we are all impressed with your accomplishments and everything...but, you know...like...you know...:pound::pound::pound:

Well...on my way to work last Sunday morning there was a fantasy baseball show on the radio and they were talking about injuries at one point. I was thinking how fortunate I had been to stay healthy.
Sure enough later that day I lost Hunter Pence (NL rookie of the year leading candidate), and All Star SS Hanley Ramirez.
Today my top draft choice Chase Utley went down. I think all three were top ten Yahoo players.
Now, I'm not complaining mind you. I'm not even worried about the regular season too much. My team is deep, I have a nice lead on second place and can afford some relatively bad weeks. Everyone has had to deal with their share of injuries.
But come playoff time if I can't get at least a couple of those guys back, the Taters will indeed have their work cut out for them. So bad news for me is very good news for the rest of you cats. :gun1:

Too quiet in here.:stirthepot:
4 weeks to go after today.
Ok, I've got a first place bye all but guaranteed. Will I get knocked off in the playoffs? Hmmm. Anything can happen in a given week.
Laimbs is still hanging on to that second bye spot. Either way he makes the playoffs. But Webz is heating up and Roscoe is within striking distance of him too.
Bezeach puts up impressive batting totals and Jammer is always in the mix. Either of those guys can catch Laimbs too, but it will be very tough.
Baseballers is playing well this week but has cooled off considerably the last couple months. He probably is too far away to get a bye with all the ground he needs to make up and with so many teams to pass, but he can easily get a playoff spot.
Gazoo has made a valiant come back attempt, but like Winless and Woody he will miss the playoffs.
So...
one bye spot gone
the other up for grabs between 5 teams
5 teams fighting for the 4 non bye spots.
Personally...I'm glad Gazoo and Woody are missing the playoffs. Those guys give me the toughest battles. Go figure!
The teams that worry me the most are Laimbeer (good pitching and always plays me tough) and Bezeach (I'm telling you his numbers don't jive with his record, and I don't want to run into him if I can avoid him even though I've done extremely well in our previous two meetings).
Then again...the stone that most often trips you is the one you don't see.
Well...back to laundry. Hopefully, I stirred things up in here!

My team is basically out of gas. I tried to make a good run, but the last few weeks I have gotten pounded and it has cost me big. I think my team suffered from the start with Carpenter going down and with Howard getting off to the very slow start. I tried to make a few deals that seem to work at first but injuries reared their ugly head once again. Oh well I am still going to try to get to the 6 th spot, but i don't see it happening.
nice analysis tater. you'll get your bye in the first round then it will be bye for good after i smash you!
my pitching crew is fearless. zambrano, sheets, kazmir, hughes, perez, billingsley. you scared yet?

What a great week.
I'm up 8-2 on William Laimbeer-San and up 9-1 in my other league.
Thanks to the absolute hiding that Baseballers is putting on Webz, I might be able to sneak into 2nd place.
Bill, you need to tune up that squad. I'm beating you without 2 of my big bats (Soriano and Ramirez). If I had those guys, it would be really ugly.
