It's no surprise Rogers is no-show (http://detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070321/SPORTS08/703210328/1004/SPORTS)

Marinelli wasn't reluctant to discuss the situation, but there really wasn't much to say.
Had he spoken to Rogers?

"I've not talked to him," Marinelli said. "I want them all here. It's not mandatory. I can't make sure that everybody's here. I want them all here and functioning and working as a group.

Hopefully he'll be here soon."

No surprise at all. Players don't respect the coach, coach doesn't respect the GM...and the GM kisses the butt of the owner that re-upped him after sniffing his 5-year-long trail-o-turds.

There is no respect within the entire Lions organization from the top down. I applaud Rogers for no-showing...at least he made a statement signifying he has some integrity. Too bad season ticket holders don't have the same integrity.

Shaun Rogers does not want to be here and neither does Cory Redding. Can you blame them? Would you want to play for this circus of an organization? I rather a guy stand up and just say trade me than come year after year to play for a check.

The plague of the Lions is that their supposed leaders don't lead by example. He needed to be there to set the example for the new players. As the team player with the most natural talent for his position, he sent the wrong message. Many will say that is absence is trivial, but the Lions will again prove this season how disfunctional they really are...................

I don't know - one quote that I really like: Things that don't change stay the same. This is the real plague of the Lions, I think.Shuffling players in and out doesn't change the organization. And this is why the Lions are losers. It shouldn't come as a surprise. The Lions have been losing for so long because their owners/GM's are LOSERS. Matt Millen has always been a LOSER with the Lions. And look at the Fords car company - a LOSER. So unless they step down (and why would they decide to stop taking those paychecks), the Lions will continue to be LOSERS. That's a guarantee that everyone would agree with.

Let's not lose this guy like we lost Wilkerson. Let the guy miss VOLUNTARIES

Wilkerson was a lazy jerk. I'm glad he left. Miami tried trading him to Denver last month but the trade fell through because Wilkerson never showed up for his physical, even after the deadline to report was extended twice.

Wilkerson has been doing everything possible to avoid voluntary sessions and camp altogether.

Rogers looks like he's cut from the same cloth.

We don't need players like that - especially on a losing team, and a losing franchise like the Lions.

Rod has done a great job of getting rid of guys with me first attitudes and poor work ethics. If Rogers doesn't want to be here, he should be shown the first available door.

You're so right but dangit we need to keep some talent so when the team does come together we have some play makers. Besides he might have a hang nail that precludes strenuous practice right now.

I completely agree that we need more talent. However, I think the Lions need to fix the chemistry and attitude first. Otherwise, the cycle will continue of talented guys coming in and then wanting to leave.

I think we're finally heading in the right direction (albeit very slowly).

Quick powerful DTs don't grow on trees. 3 and 13 will suck the life out of anyone. 4 coaches in 5 years is enough to run off anyone. What's there for a ProBowler to respect?
