6-3 is barely? :lame: I'm up 150 points, 70 boards and 70 assists!!!

Yeah yeah yeah. I thought about going at you with just the scrubs who replaced the guys I lost in the last couple weeks or so (Arenas, G. Wallace, Aldridge, and Gay to name a few), but then even my replacement scrubs went down to injury or received DNP's.

Anyhow, when I had my regular guys I beat you easily enough (6-3 to be precise) 3 weeks ago without rent a player. You gotta be resilient enough to make any needed adjustments to win the big prize in these leagues Wartie old boy. ;) Don't be a hater.

number of games my players have played: 50
number of games your players have played: 65

number of adds/drops you've done in a week and a half: 16
number of adds/drops i've had all season: 20

number of players on my roster: 15
number of players it's taken you to beat me: 26

looking at the stats, i would've beaten every other team this week with my lineup. i had the best team all year with an overall record of 18-3. and i've kept my dignity and didn't turn the Finals into an Add/Drop contest.

so if you want that title so badly, it's yours. we know who the real champ is. :);)

Yahoo will say it's Me.:winner_first_h4h:

What dignity? This is all pretend. It's about getting the biggest numbers any way you can within the rules. You chose to keep the marquee names. Me, I just want stats.

I have no regrets about dropping a star guy who helped me get to the ship, but who can help me no longer. It isn't like he cares or knows. If it were real life I'd manage my team differently.

Anyhow, I'm just teasing with you. It's not even over yet. You've got a tough bunch that played well all year, but I had to do whatever I could to try to beat you...as I do with everyone.

Folks, we're ready to roll however the format has changed since last year.

Instead of posting directly to a thread, we are going to take submissions through a form. This will standardize the responses and dramatically reduce the chance of any errors, as well as the time required to "mark" the entries.

Please see the competition information page (http://www.pistonsforum.com/view-07bracketpool.html) for specific details and a link to the form.

I recommend you download and use our printable bracket as a "scratch copy". It will make your form easier to fill out. MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ENTRIES!

I would appreciate if folks would let me know of any errors you find.

roscoe36

Wingspan
04-20-2007, 01:55 PM
I'm not sure if this has been covered yet, but the error for tie breakers should be calculated like so:
Predicted outcome between T1 and T2:
P_T1 to P_T2
Actual outcome:
A_T1 to A_T2
Error
|P_T1-A_T1|+|P_T2-P_T2|

That way, in the example the error from the SAS-SAC round would be 1, not 0.

TaShawn

The way you have it is fine, Roscoe. It's already the same as what Wingspan is suggesting. He's talking about getting the total error from the SAS-SAC series in one calculation, and what you have is separate numbers for SAS and for SAC that are added together at the end, so it's all the same.

Yeah, it's exactly the same. My bad: I didn't look carefully at what Roscoe wrote. I was just about to delete my post.

But "P" stood for predicted result, and "A" stood for actual result in what I wrote. P_T1 = "Number of wins predicted for team 1". Sorry, I read physics equations all day.

Darth Tater

After the Bulls choked in their last game of the regular season, I was fairly certain Miami would handle them. However, I hesitantly went with Chicago because a certain "expert" seemed certain they would win, and in the past, this experts predictions have been really accurate.

I also picked Dallas and Toronto to win though. :(

I thought people here were nuts for thinking Golden State could take out Dallas. Not sure if anyone actually picked them in the contest though.

Toronto has been flat out disappointing in the playoffs.

Dumars4Ever
05-01-2007, 02:57 PM
I picked Miami in 6 over Chicago (whoops) and Dallas to win it all... Even if the Mavs somehow pull it out against the Warriors, they sure don't look like they're going to make it out of the West.

I can't blame anyone else for those picks, but I do put 100% blame on Roscoe's Raptors hype for my picking them to beat the Nets. He got me with that one. :wedgie:

mikhail1973
05-01-2007, 02:59 PM
The "Dallas" syndrome is a very difficult thing. They've been the best team in the league over the entire season where Warriors got hot during the last month or so. However, we've seen too many times when team going into playoffs on a roll takes out the better team that coasted during the last month or so since they've had their playoffs and their seed wrapped up.

mikhail1973
05-01-2007, 03:01 PM
In the Toronto NJ series, it was near impossible to say how healthy would NJ's big 3 would be. If any of them is not healthy, they're a different team. They are, however, more experienced than Toronto and Toronto seemed to fold when it got difficult. Toronto also has no go to guy and Bosh had been disappointing playing against Moore.

The problem is not that they are down 3-1. The problem is that it wasn't really close for the most part, especially when it mattered the most. Can Dallas D stop Warriors? It would be a miracle if they did. And they also can't keep up offensively. Some drastic changes are needed and very quickly.

Is this just a case of matching up horribly against a specific team?

I know the Warriors swept the Mavs during the regular season, but their record was not great overall. So, it's not like they are just playing better all-around.

TaShawn, but they only had their team healthy and together for the last month of the season and they beat up on everyone including Phoenix and Houston. The only team they really struggled against was San Antonio. They finished 16-5 to make the playoffs. So their 42-40 record is a tad misleading.

TaShawn

I thought that was a sample, but couldn't see any other entry so included it anyway. and also because you picked GS which was mention-worthy.

Props so far to lapeapod and lemonpen who only got the Dallas result incorrect, but very special props to roscoe36 and Warthog who were the only ones to choose Golden State and both managed to predict the series result of 4-2 as well.

i really thought golden state was going to win that series, and i wasn't just picking it to be different. but i also thought the rockets would win as well as the heat, so i'm not that smart. :)

I guess that's why they play the game. We've all got something wrong in our predictions. :)

Here are the results after the conference finals.
There is only 1 possible point left to pick up and only 4 people are still in the running for that point: Tashawn, ahb, Woody and Nemo. All picked the Spurs.

Three people are tied for first but if the Spurs win it all Tashawn will join that winners circle.

This has got to be bittersweet huh?

Congratulations, you were right on with your brackets, but the Pistons lost, but hey, you won the bracket pool, but the team you were rooting for lost, but on the bright side, you were right! :)

I'd rather be wrong and happy than right and sad any day, unfortunately I had to settle for wrong and sad. :(

We could start a thread with people's predictions, but as far as setting up brackets and all that, there isn't enough time for me to get that ready with games as early as tomorrow.

I'm surprised yahoo doesn't offer an NBA bracket.
