View Full Version : Raptors/Nets Series
The Low

Ok, this series has had a pretty boring start so far. Points of notice:
1) The Raptors are getting a little "welcome to the playoffs" business from the refs.
2) You ought to see the two empty suits that ESPN set up for this game...classic 3rd billing.
3) TOR's arena is damn near empty...sad.
4) TOR's fans appear to be thrilled with being behind early as long as Vince Carter misses shots.

Maybe, but they should be more concerned with their ability to Saunders.
Saunders = verb. - "hit more shots"

i see the nets taking this series. from goin to the game last week in toronto, they have a great home crowd, but battle-tested teams like the nets and pistons won't be fazed by it.

You can see how a team with one and half stars can be taken out of it if the star goes down for awhile and in this case Bosh sitting out most of the first half in foul trouble. Vince has sat too due to foul trouble, but RJ and the Kidd have played up to their expectations.
Of course as Low and I always point out, the points in the paint always play a big part in who wins and after 3 quarters, the nets are up 15 and they lead in the points in the paint, 42-14!!

Very true as the Raptors have needed 75% 3 Pt shooting in the 2nd half to get back into the game...that right there, is no way to live in the playoffs.
Viva la PIP! Viva la PIP! Viva la PIP!!!

I turned away to the tiger-Sox game for 10 minutes and comback to the NBA and find the Rapts are back within 2??? But alas, the more experienced team won. Down only one game, but if the Rapts lose game 2 at home, this may be a Nets sweep!

"Many Toronto fans dislike Vince Quitter."
The problem started with the GM.
Now it's about to move to Minny. Is KG happy?
Congrats to the Raps. For restoring order.
One man can only do so much, before he has to do some reconning. I mean wrecking.

Good look at a 3 for Nachbar, but he blew it.

It was a decent look for them on the pass. The Raptors collapsed on Vince, so the wide open 3 was a good option; just didn't knock it down.

I'm hoping that every series not involving the Pistons goes 7 games for the rest of the playoffs.
THEN let's see our boys complain about being tired! :stirthepot:

Good win for Toronto, however can they win in Jersey? East teams were pretty lousy on the road. Also, it is quite interesting - who led Toronto in scoring in this game - the guy who has been through many playoffs in the Euroleague. He was OK during the year, but turned it up a notch in the playoffs. That experience sure does help. And Jersey has plenty, which can't be said about Toronto. They are in for a tough, tough series. If Jersey can keep their "big 3" going, Toronto wouldn't stand a chance here.
"Let's go Raptors - VC sucks"
Mikki Moore's now outdunking Bosh.
Great playcall from Lawrence Frank to get a completely wide-open jumpshot for Nachbar... Nachbar chokes.
The Nets should still win this series in the swamp.

The Raptors tried giving this game away in the 4th. I've never seen so many wide open 3 pointer attempts in my life!

Looking at the boxscore (no TaShawn, I still have not watched a Raps playoff game), Calderon had a fantastic game.
The Raptors hang on, which is great!

Yeah Calderon was awesome tonight. He rolled an ankle with under 2 minutes left and couldn't return. Ford left in the first half with an injury.

Sounded like Ford was in pretty bad shape even before VC landed on him. Some kind of serious infection that he just started taking antibiotics for. If Calderon isn't 110% next game and Ford can't go or is slowed, it's all over but the shouting.
I was surprised the Nets didn't pull it out last night. Even though they were down all game, they somehow seemed to be playing a better game than Toronto.
Had high hopes for the Raptors. Even picked them for the ECF against the Pistons. The Nets really came to play this series. I haven't seen any of these games, but press clippings seem to indicate a Nets victory in this one..............

Kidd finishes series averaging a triple double.
That is really impressive. I could see a 6'8" point forward doing this, but a true guard like Kidd?
Why don't the other guys on his team get some of those rebounds? That is the only part I don't understand.

You gotta like a guy who handles the rock, and makes sure he gets it before he heads up the court...
@TaS, I didn't watch one minute of this series. ;)
