Who would have thunk it??

This could be called the western conf JV series. Nobody for a minute believes that either of these teams can make it to the Finals. But guess what? One of them will make it to the WCF!

Let`s just say, one of these teams happens to upset either the Suns or Spurs and face, uh the Pistons in the Finals.........

Hmmmm......we all know the success we had against both of these teams during the regular season. That`s right, this is not the regular season.

Anyway, this should be an entertaining series. I have no idea who will win it. The teams split the four games played during the regular season.

Should be a great series. Personally, I think a Pistons vs. Jazz final would be awesome... but so would a Pistons vs. Warriors! How's that for commitment?

I agree.

But ABC, the NBA, David Stern, Nike, (well maybe Nike) would never let it happen!!

I hear alot about the nba style of play and results being influenced greatly by stern and others. Im not sure if this is said jokingly or is something that we must all accept. Could someone comment on this please.

I take back what I said about the pleasure of watching execution. The Jazz play an admirable game and none of their current players are really all that bad, but I can't get past their management, their crowd, the way the referees always seem particularly blind in Salt Lake City, the way they use hacking as a base defense rather than a supplement to one, that moronic dirty %%%% Karl Malone, and the fact that they're from Utah.

It's just an added benefit that I can support the Warriors by hating the Jazz.

If Baron's reasonably healthy, Warriors in 6. If he's not, Jazz in 5. Either will be taken apart rather easily by San Antonio.

I think we matchup better against the Jazz... I don't want to see Sheed & Cwebb chasing the Warriors up and down the court... and we don't have a PG advantage against them either.
It might be a different scenario if we were a big post up team (not).

If Boozer plays as well against GSW as he did against the Rockets, I think the Jazz win this series in 5 games and then rest up for the winner of the Spurs/Suns series.

both those teams are TOUGH for us. but I will enjoy trying to watch (no TV) them play each other! I am a big Deron fan.

What's their regular season record against each other?
Even.

I think Al Harrington (along with Biedrins for defensive purposes) will have a much more successful series against Boozer than one might think. And Memo and Fisher are going to have serious problems.

The Jazz have come out running on the Warriors and take a 17-7 lead in the first Q. Williams is running Utah`s offense like a machine, with Boozer bullying inside.

Al Harrington has gone stupid with 3`s and 1`s.................score tied at 24.......................3:45 left in 1st Q.

37-35 Jazz after one...whoa! This is nuts. Obviously the Warriors prefer to play at a crazy pace like this, so Utah will have to look to slow it down at least a little bit.

Once again GSW took some ill advised long jumpers in the end instead of going to the paint like the Jazz did at the end.

The Jazz have two of the best players in the post season in Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer. I think I rather take our (Pistons) chances vs the Spurs than the Jazz who have our number.

Huge Round 2 Game 1 game for Deron Williams. HUGE!! And as an added bonus we got to see rookie Dee Brown play significant minutes due to Deron getting in foul trouble. I love this guy. He did okay too. He has been turnover prone and not so great shooting average in his little rookie minutes this year, but he was very clutch at University of Illinois and did some pretty clutch stuff tonight too. Forced a few turnovers, drew some fouls and a real sweet fast break. Go Deron. Go Dee.

Dre, The Bulls had our number in the regular season too.
Although, the Jazz are a better team than the Bulls........

If we somehow play the Jazz in the finals, I might be able to get tickets to a finals game. But, yeah...a 5 hour trek to see a loss doesn't seem like such a good idea. Then again, the 1990 Pistons had lost in Portland for around 12 years straight and we whooped up on them 3 games straight in the finals. OK, this isn't the 1990 Pistons...but watching them yesterday...Wow.

That would be sweet, maybe I could score a ticket for that, too. It's only an hour north of here. I know the Jazz have continually beat us in the regular season, but that goes right out the window in the Finals, my friends. The Pistons are not going to lose to the Jazz. Then again, the Spurs are not going to lose to the Jazz, either, so we'll probably not see that matchup anyway. Of course, I'm assuming that the Spurs will drop the Suns.

63-58 Jazz at the half, in another crazy fast paced game. The rebounding edge is 30-13 Utah, but they're only up 5!

Headed to OT! Exciting stuff. The Warriors hit a bunch of 3s to take the lead late, but they couldn't hit enough FTs to clinch it, and Deron scored on a clutch play in the final seconds.

Tough loss for the Warriors. It looked like they had it won in the last minute of regulation, but the Jazz completely dominated the OT.

Who goofed, I got to know!

Did Baby Fats "Play The Right Way" tonight?

What is my opinion of Okur's play tonight?

How can you ask me such a question?

The fans in this game were off the hook!!

Loud, loud and louder!!! I hope the next game at the Palace we can actually hear the crowd. I know it must be loud if you are there, but man, on TV it`s like a library compared to these other crowds.....

A lot of that depends on where the networks put the microphones and how they are set up. You can use microphones that filter out or enhance background noise. So you have to take the noise level on TV or the radio with a grain of Hollywood salt.

So, they are placing the mics wrong at the Palace only?

Every since RonRon and SJax went nuts a couple of years ago, Detroit has quite the reputation. I'm sure the networks and the NBA were a little nervous about miking the crowd.

SLC is a pretty safe bet though.

For the record:

Boozer is amazing. And so is Baron Davis.

I am loving watching Memo play in the playoffs. He is so cool and calm, but never hesitates. Not much emotion on his face and he doesn't do a lot of antics but he is very efficient.

Before the season in this forum, I was hoping for a Piston-Jazz finals. I know there is still a long way to go, but I would still love it.

GS came in thinking they could outrun Utah but it has not turned out that way at all.

If this Finals pairing comes about, I will be looking to score tickets in Detroit.

Close games 1 & 2 at the Salt Lake. Warriors are good at home in the playoffs, GREAT as a matter of fact. Series might come back to Salt Lake tied at 2-2.

The Jazz squeaked by the Warriors in Utah, but in Oakland it's a different story.

I really think the Warriors are the much better team, but Utah gets those friendly whistles at home and might make it to the WCF without winning a road game.

Watching GSW play at home, every time they take a relatively uncontested three, I think it's going in, and for Game 3 of this second round, 50%+ of the time in the first half I was right. I couldn't believe how well GSW shot the ball from behind the arc in that first half, and they continued to get key threes in the third quarter when the Jazz finally found their offense.

The Jazz guards getting in foul trouble early didn't help the cause for the Jazz much, either, as it resulted in Boozer not getting involved until midway through the 3rd quarter (at which point he only had 5 shots).

Davis' dunk on AK-47 now puts the marker at 2-7 by a very rough count, with 2 being the number of times Davis has managed to score a basket when challenging AK-47 around the rim, and 7 being the number of times AK-47 has turned him away by blocking his shot. Of course the last one is the only one that will end up on a poster.

Am I the only one that was bothered by hearing Coach Sloan throw Kirilenko under the bus?

His team scored 100+ and the other team beats him by 20 and he feels they lost the game because Andrei bogged down the offense?

Hopefully in hindsight the coach will think better of tossing his defensive stalwart under the bus when it's defensive stops that they need to win this series.

CloudWalker
05-12-2007, 05:42 AM
Fortunately for Baron Davis (and fans) that dunk on AK came when the game was pretty much out of hand so the refs didn't feel the need to call Davis for the off arm.

If I were SA or the Suns, I wouldn`t want to face the winner of the Warriors/Jazz series in the WCF....

Who knows what might happen!

I can't tell if it's the Jazz powder blue unis or not, but I had problems watching this game. I couldn't figure out why I kept switching channels until I realized I was bored with the constant running up and down and jacking up of threes.

You got to admire how Sloan has prepared the Jazz though (though for me to say). Other than last night they've beaten GS at their own game.

Well, what do you know? The Jazz is through the second round and is going to take it easy while the rest of the league keeps beating each other up, especially Suns and Spurs. Warriors lost the series when they choked at the end of game 2 missing all those free throws. They have noone else but themselves to blame. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to install some kind of offensive system and get some post presence. That team would be good.

LA Dre

Warriors just relied to much on the three ball and that hurt them in everygame they lost. Jazz almost gave game 5 away with missed free throws etc, but the experience and heart of Fisher, all around play Boozer, clutch shooting by memo, defense by AK 47 and leadership by Williams was enough to pull this one out.

Last thing Joe wants to see is a rematch of the 1998 NBA finals but this time with two Piston ring escapees, Ben and Memo squaring off against each other. If the Bulls, beat the Pistons, then they will beat the Cavs.

I think the Jazz can beat the Spurs-Suns survivor.

I don't even want to think about that possibility. But Jazz has a great chance playing against beat up Spurs or Suns. They play D, they have enough big man. They have a decent PG. And they have a good coach.

I totally agree with you Dre. The Jazz look very strong right now, and also very disciplined. The Western Finals should be great to watch.

Ben vs. Memo. I don't want to see it.
