I know the Wings are still in the Lord Stanley hunt, but planning for the future is an ongoing thing.
Red Wings signed Grigorenko and are considering re-signing Hasek if he is available.

Hopefully one day Grigorenko can make an impact.
I wish I knew what was going on with Kronwall and if it is possible for Fischer to ever return.

According to the sources, Grigorenko is nowhere the player he was before the accident, but still should be good enough to make the team, although it is no longer guaranteed.
Niklas Kronwall (fractured sacrum) said he hopes to begin skating at the end of next week. Wings general manager Ken Holland said the earliest Kronwall could return would be for the Stanley Cup finals. Even that might be optimistic.
Here's an interesting article on Jiri:

Red Wings Central (http://www.redwingscentral.com/stories/2007_08/23_Tryouts.html)
The Detroit Red Wings have invited 16 tryouts to next month's annual prospects tournament and training camp in Traverse City, Mich.
Some are free agents and others will still be eligible for the NHL draft next summer. Five are strictly invited to the main camp.
The following is a review of the preliminary invites (listed alphabetically with position, age, height, weight, statistics, and 2006-07 team).

Red Wings trimmed their roster down to 34 players. I believe regular season roster is 21. There's a lot of competition for a few available spots. So far Grigorenko has been a disappointment and it is possible that he will start the year at Grand Rapids. He said that he's staying in US no matter what, even though his contract has an out clause that allows him to return to Russia if he's not on the Red Wings roster comes November 1.
