Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports that the Tigers have traded Mike Maroth to the Cardinals for an as yet undisclosed return.
The Cardinals were clearly looking for rotation help, signing Tomo Ohka to a minor league deal after Braden Looper joined Chris Carpenter and Mark Mulder on the disabled list. The trade clears way for Kenny Rogers to rejoin the Tigers' rotation. Jun. 22 - 12:45 p.m. ET

Good for Mike. He's a solid #4-5 starter. He should do well without designated hitter. And he's a solid hitter for a pitcher.

As of there return in the trade:
"The Tigers will scout a number of players in the Cardinals farm system from a list the teams have agreed upon. They'll then have their choice of player later in the year."

Lots of guys on the Detroit News site HATE this move because the Cardinals were desperate for a starter and Dombrowski didn't take advantage of this. I have to agree.

Until we see what the Tigers get back in return, I don't see how you can say Detroit should have got more out of the deal. Maroth, after all, was the Tigers #7 starter. I wish him the best.

That must make Nate No. 8.

Dombrowski is no idiot. We know that the Cards better prospects are on that list.

I'm ok with this trade.

Robertson has issues from time to time, but he is better than Maroth.

Robertson will have a better upside............

I don't think it is matter of upside, he's just plain better pitcher.

You say "tomato", I say "tomato"...........When comparing career statistics I get.................................

Maroth - age 29 - record 50-62 - era 4.81...................
Robertson - age 29 - record 37-48 - era 4.61...................

Looks like the same pitcher to me, so again I say that Robertson has the better future (upside).......Oh, do-da-day............:) :) :)

I don't like it. Even though we made it to the WS with out Maroth. We was awesome last year. That's a lot of experience to give up.
The Tigs first mistake in the last 3 years?
