ESPN - Kurkjian: Young having an "amazing" season for Nats - MLB (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=kurkjian_tim&id=2916835&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab2pos1)

Tigers manager Jim Leyland sought out Dmitri Young (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5699) recently, shook his hand and congratulated him on the way he was playing and, more important, the way he was living his life. It was Leyland's Tigers who released Young last year. It was not something Leyland wanted to do, but he told Young last week, "It was the best thing that's ever happened to you." Leyland was right.

Yeah every now and then you hear about a guy that use to be a Tig.
Like Tony Clark getting a big hit.

We only hear about those because we pay attention since we follow Tigers more or less. How about a story about a guy that used to be a White Sox? Or a guy that used to be a Philly or a Mariner for that matter?
I feel good that DY, at least for now, can put things together. How long it lasts only god knows.

My point is some exTigs weren't complete waste. Damien Easley is another that still comes through.

I understand. But it happens quite often when a team gives up on a player and another team picks him and all of a sudden he's shining. Look at Pena. They gave him every possible chance in D. He wasn't hitting. Then he went to Boston. Same thing. Now, all of a sudden he's at Tampa hitting up a storm. It is very unpredictable.
